What's up with Coach Net ?

I am astounded by the prices that Coach Net is now charging for roadside assistance. They previously had prices a little more than $100. Their only program for motorized vehicles is now $249. What the heck happened ?

Had them for 4 years. Always been 149 - 139 If you renew when they send a reminder a couple months early.

So after sending an email to them a g a i n... I was told new customers pay $249, and renewals pay $149. There was no mention whatsoever of the "basic" package shown in the screenshot above. That prompted yet another email asking is there or is there not more than one package? I asked before and that was totally skipped over. They are being very flighty about answering a very simple question. For all the reasonably reviews on CN, their business practices are questionable

I just sent them an email asking why they apparently are offering ONE membership (at least this is all thats being advertised) for $250, and yet the people I see on here are paying between $80-$150 to renew?

At $250 I'm out anyway, but if they are structuring a multi-tiered system (for new subscribers), I'm really out.

We always went through PPL for getting a COACHNET discount and will need to call them about this, before renewing. Others may wish to do the same at Toll Free: 800-755-4775, M - F and choosing option 7 when prompted.

I just renewed for $79 for one year. I have the basic service which includes everything that I could possibly ever need. Here is a link to explain the Basic service: Coach-Net basic

One thing you can be sure of is if GSRA had any significant problems that the people on this forum would complain loud and clear. Over ten years I have heard very very few complaints on either service, and it's not GS, it's their contracted tow services, probably the same ones CN uses too.

I just had a flat. Good Sam quoted $750. I called THE SAME REPAIR SHOP. He said I already called. Well, Good Sam had. The actual cost was $500, with ME paying the $95 emergency service call. Good Sam was making $250 on my flat tire. This is new, last blowout (a few years ago) through Good Sam was $500, same as what I just paid. They very well may have taken the $95 and tacked it on, but this time it was $250. The service guy said it is common for all these companies now and never call for a tire, only towing and repairs.
Is that loud and clear enough?

I'm in MD and I just renewed with no issues

If they were to at least offer to price match GS, I might consider them at renewal time. Otherwise, I don't see them as being competitive at that price point.

Read my post above I called them - this discussion is out of hand - I welcome others to call them and confirm my facts
no it's not out of hand!
I wrote them asking how they can charge twice the price of GS and they came back with a very long diatribe about how they are so much better than the competition, and how wonderful this one additional service is that you get with the Premiere package that GS charges extra for.. Well the only package offered IS the Premiere package, and this additional service if bought through GS still doesn't come anywhere close to the one and only price of Coach Net. So... splain' that

They didn't mention at all that this is a 1st year signup fee and additional years are the price you claim, so one HAS to assume this is the new rate and they have gone to a two tier: new vs. old subscriber model. Even IF you are correct, In ANY other service, companies offer DISCOUNTS to come on board and try out their service, that's how it's done. CoachNet instead has doubled their rates from the nearest competition, and there are now several. I'm at a loss how this model can possibly work out for them, but I'm sure not going to test drive them at these new rates. This is after all nothing but insurance. I'd love to hear anyone here fess up to paying twice the rate for essentially the same package because they simply claim they're better.

One thing you can be sure of is if GSRA had any significant problems that the people on this forum would complain loud and clear. Over ten years I have heard very very few complaints on either service, and it's not GS, it's their contracted tow services, probably the same ones CN uses too.

I agree, but Coachnet functions as basically an insurance policy. I mentioned regional above because of the wide difference in insurance cost based on your home location. It was simply a thought. There are now a couple of states where Coachnet is no longer available which adds to my thoughts of "regional".

I'm with the others though. A high entry cost does nothing but send potential long term customers to the competition or to go without. Lets hope Coachnet comes to their senses.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.
