Wiring mess found behind shower wall

I pulled the shower wall off to move and install a new shower diverter and found the main wire harness. There was really nothing wrong with it working but what a mess. I cleaned it up the best I could.

At least with Winnebago, they tell us where the wiring is. And it actually is there. Our Jayco is a mess like OP's pic, both inside and underneath. And so is the patchwork of plumbing under the stove.

I've been in the same situations most of you have been in and believe me just having wiring installed is a well engineered loom is just as bad as wiring being loosely bundled together. Don't get me wrong, I love the thoughts employed by Winnie in most things but a 2' diameter loom carefully and tightly wrapped can be a major problem when it is so tightly run and tightly bound you can't move it.

Another thing that is difficult in trouble shooting Winnie wiring is that almost all the wires used are Yellow or White. The least they could do is use different colors for battery supplied 12 volt lines , ignition ON another and ignition Off For Start another color. Speaker and other media wiring should also be a different set of colors.

When wiring a residence, we always labeled each breaker specifically. Not just outlets, but baseboard outlets in living room or GFCI protected for Kitchen. Out Bounder didn't label any of the CBs, Winnie at least labels the breakers by use. I don't even want to mention OEM fuses much less the add on fuses under the dash or in the engine compartment.

Too funny and too current. While making a different repair, our repairman found a switch under the bottom kitchen drawer. He said "I have no idea what this is for - but never turn it off!"

At least the aluminum shavings were inside the walls. We bought our Bungalow new back in May 2017. We lived in it for the summer season. When we closed up for the year, we were still vacuuming and pulling up aluminum shavings out of the carpets. We should have collected them and returned them to Jayco as a thank you for the great clean up they did.

Jayco is notorious for messy wiring. Fortunately, I haven't had to dig into the wiring. Hopefully I won't have to find out.

After 13 years I am still collecting some. Almost there.

Every time I upgrade or add something it takes three times longer because I have to straighten up whatโ€™s been done from the factory. This started as a shower diverted install, old one ran off the sink faucet which was horrible. I was trying to figure out the best way to get to the Pex lines under the bathroom floor and it looks like adding an outside shower is my best option to get to the old supply lines.

Unfortunately a rats nest of wires EVERYWHERE seems to be the norm. To name a few of mine. Converter and inverter and leveler compartments. And dont even look behind the TV over the dash. YIKES.

Almost forgot that I had to install my stove after I discovered the only thing holding it in was the gas line.

I swear they run a chipper in there prior to delivery.

That is a minor disaster. Nice job on the cleanup.

Should have seen the several messes in my 2016 Bounder. I understand the wire looms are made for several different models but just stuffing wires in the cavity hoping don't rub through till the warranty runs out is criminal IMO. I really liked the two water lines in a three inch hole through the floor pulled so tight it was a job to get some split duct around the pex, in two places. The plus was that they didn't bother to fill at least three holes, that I have found so far, with foam so at least I could identify a potential problem.

Then there is the propane lines just tossed over the frame rubbing and not tied down and same with the jack lines. Or the front left jack mounting bolt so the bolt cut through the Ford wiring harness split duct just nicking a wire when I found it.

I got more but we have all been there and got the t-shirt.
