Does anyone find anything worth watching on Prime. I am on the fence to get it for the shipping but looking thru all the Prime content I would really have to be desperate to sit down and watch 99.9% of the content I can find on the service. Am I missing something?

I agree the Netflix choices are much better. I've not been impressed with the Amazon offerings that are free with Prime---either in TV or books. But if you are going to get Prime for some other reason, there might be some things on it you like.

Also agree that Netflix has more offerings on DVD than on streaming. But the Netflix streaming is better than Amazon streaming, even the full Amazon TV.

You can always get it and drop it. There's no contract.

I also tried the Kindle Unlimited for a month and found there was nothing on it that I cared to read. Much better selection in e-books from the local library.

I watch enough that it makes a good perk- a lot of TV series that I missed the first time around (currently working through Veronica Mars), and a number of good movies. You also get a free pre-release book every month with Prime. I'm not sure if I would get Prime *just* for the TV though.
We watch via our net enabled BluRay player, which has an Amazon video app.

I have Amazon Prime for the free shipping & have thought about the TV part but was unsure how all that worked.
Just access it thru your computer to see what it is like. The Firestick basically sends it to your TV.

I have had Amazon Prime for quite some time... primarily for the free shipping. Over the years I have watched a few of the free movies on my laptop. I like older movies so it was not a problem that the free ones weren't the "new" releases.

Last week we picked up the Amazon Fire Stick and have been totally hooked. I don't get HBO on my home cable service so I am now exposed to all the things I was missing. Last night we finished up the series Boardwalk Empire...OH MY GOD! I couldn't stop watching it. We also have a lighter series that we would watch to break up the more dramatic Boardwalk Empire- which I highly recommend if you can take a bit of adult language.

Only time will tell if we stick to watching the free prime stuff. There are some apps etc that we have played with some. Friends have suggested other series to check out. I figure this will be our entertainment when winter finally sets in.

Streaming is not the panacea for entertainment that providers want us think it is.

We've been Netflix subscribers for years. I started Prime a couple of years ago mostly for the shipping. We looked at their streaming and it pales in comparison to Netflix. Conversely Netflix only has about 30% of all available shows and movies available for streaming. The rest you have to get through their DVD/BluRay service. The reason for this is the cost of the content.

That said to cover those costs you can get more options with Prime, but you pay additional fees on top of the annual fee.
