Best kept secret in Windows 7 & 8

A friend shared with me about a neat little program included in Windows 7 & 8.

It is called "Snipping Tool", you can find it by doing a search from your start button or search box. When you find it, I would recommend right clicking and select "pin to task bar", since I know you will be using it a lot.

When you open the program it allows you to select any part of your desktop by holding down the left button and drawing the box to save it as a picture.

You can also click on the highlight pen to highlight the exact item you want people to see.

I think it might help a lot of people to make their point in a more visual manner.

Try it for yourself.

IMO, this is the best kept secret in Windows and the best part it is FREE!!

Let me know if you agree...

Thanks,
Terry

Thanks, it's been pinned to my start menu since I got this computer and I was too lazy to figure out what it was.

Does Command/Shift/4 let you select between a full-screen, window, rectangular, or free-form capture? The Windows Snipping Tool does...

Snipping tool is a great feature, but has been around since 2007 and debuted in Vista.

This was the old way everyone had to do and it takes awhile. Hopefully you can get the admin rights to open the program.

I tried to open my WIN7 SNIPPING TOOL up and it says it isn't working now contact your IT admin guy...

Guess I will google WIN7 snipping tool and see what happens

I always did a screen capture by holding down the ALT key then select PRINT SCREEN. This saves the screen selected in memory so you can open it up using PAINT. Then you can crop it add notes to it etc...

This is what I get using ALT PRT SCREEN-opening up PAINT and pasting in-then crop and select all and copy..

Then use IMGUR with CTRL V - then click on DIRECT LINK and save HTTP link addres - Then add to RV NET image maker to get this added photo

I agree. I use it to snip recipes out of Facebook, among other things.
