Last summer while traveling we wanted to watch the Olympics and we had to call in the address of the RV parks that we were staying at each night so that we could receive NBC channels.
We were finally told that we needed a mobile account. We received paper work that we completed and mailed in to Direct TV, Distant Network Services. Never heard from them and then faxed copies of our paperwork to them in May. Called today and spoke with 12 different people and on the phone for 2 hours. They have no clue. We are pretty frustrated.
How do you get your direct TV channels while on the road?
Do you have a separate account?
Do you have to call in and tell them where you are?
Are you using your receiver from home successfully?
Yes, we know that we can use our phones and tablets to watch Direct TV but we paid for the satellite dish and we want to use it.
We appreciate any help, advice, contact numbers that any Direct TV users can give us.
Thanks.

We have decided to send in another DNS application. In reviewing some paper work I noticed something: All local channels will be changed account wise.
For those of you who have Direct TV in both the RV and at home, is this true? Do you no longer have your local channels at home?
Thanks again

What would happen if you gave dtv a New York address and changed locals to that address. Would you receive network coverage around the nation without having to change your location at each stop?
Yes, well sort of. You would not get locals but you would get NY Networks throughout the US. This can also me done if you us an LA address.

How long does a Fax take? It should be an hour, but DTV is very much still in the paper world. It's apparent that Dns is not a high priority item for them.
Last time I sent an affidavit they would not accept a fax. I was told it had to be by snail mail. I know: All of these policies depend on whatever agent you happen to be talking with.
I mailed the affidavit about a month before we left for Phoenix. I called, while on the road to Phoenix and was told I didn't qualify. so I updated my location a couple of times to get locals. Lo & behold we arrived in Phoenix and, without further discussion, I had NY locals. Crazy way to run a satellite provider.
I kept and paid for DNS about 18 months before I decided it was, for me, a waste of $15/month. We are getting older and, with my wife's various health issues, long trips are not in our plans.

OK. Whatever time it takes for the mail to get there and be processed through the mail system to the right people. Maybe not a month but,for sure, more than a day.

After mailing your affidavit, wait about a month

I am grandfathered into DNS so I get both NY and LA for an extra $5/month.
I had both East and West years ago but after opting out for a few years I could only get East, based on my billing address.

I am grandfathered into DNS....
New DTV customers are assigned either East or West DNS based upon where the RV is located. As a long time DTV/DNS user I receive both East and West DNS channels for an extra $5/month.
