I think there should be a program for instructing new employees on the finer points of RVing. While recently making a purchase at the local CW we mentioned to the sales clerk that we had just returned from the Mass Samboree. The blank look on her face was confirmed that she didn't have the slightest idea what a Samboree was.

That's not a grocery store cashier's job. Their job is to ring up prices, collect money and be able to tell you store specials and where to find products.

In sales, a salesperson is responsible for product knowledge. I've said it many times. I walk into a showroom and the salespersons are shooting the bull. They should be sitting in a product, reading its manual and arming themselves for prospective buyer questions.

When I can go into a dealer and show the saleperson how to setup a Trailmanor, Aliner, Chalet because they're not sure, I picked the wrong dealer.

It's like a leaking rv, "run, run, run".

Why would you mention it, and why should she care where you just returned from?

Just once I'd just like to SEE a cashier behind the check out counter when I am ready to check out! Been in 4 different stores just this year across a couple of states and each time I had to put my stuff down and go on a search and rescue mission to find one to check me out.

They need to put a sign outside that says "No Cashier on Duty", so I know not to stop there!

I've seen several CampingWorlds with skeleton crews on the retail floor. Cashiers are turned into floaters - pulling inventory, stocking, assisting customers. It can be a challenge at times for the customer when the store is short-staffed.

Even the so called top notch repair facilities lack in knowledge. They use the excuse that 'there are so many different rv's out there'....well get the book out and find the answer to my question on how to fix it!

Your observation doesn't surprise....

I think you'll find the vast majority of forum members don't know what it is either! I am one. I know it's a rally but that's about it.

Surprised now?

I am sure the employee turnover at Camping World is similar to most all retail operations, somewhere in the 100% to 200% range. They are probably pleased they actually have warm bodies who can speak at least broken English.
