Killer rain 1, Satellite 0

Last night I completely lost the Satellite signal for a few hours due to the unusually heavy rain. It was back on and OK today. This is the only time this has happened.

I have my receiver while at home in the garage, along with a roof dish. I port the receiver to my RV when on the road.

I guess those few microwatts couldn't penetrate the precipitation (or the rain either).

I'm using the roof antenna on the stick house and an identical one on the RV.

First time signal loss in AZ with super heavy dust storm with heavy clouds. Sunshine and all better next day!

Sometimes SD will come in when HD doesn't.

Never lost a signal in the rain as I can remember, until I got the fabulous Genie. Now I lose it several times a year. My signal is in the upper 90's when it's clear.

Yep, the neighbors with the small domes complain here in Florida when it rains, while our Dish triple LNB 1000.4 full-sized dish keeps right on working. It has to get really heavy before we lose the signal.

You don't mention what antenna you are using with your RV. It it's the same kind of antenna you have at home you should have the exact same results. If it's some kind of a portable or dome then your mileage will vary GREATLY!

It's often cloud density as well as rain. We lost all HD services most of the day yesterday and another 30min fade a few minutes ago. Haven't seen fades like this around here in years

Sheesh. We are native Northern Californians. 10-15 inches of rain anually, rarely caused us rain fade. Here in Central Florida it can rain 8 inches in a day. We get plenty of rain fades.

I keep local channels piped in for those times.

I wish it was not raining so much there. We are from Yuba City and the surrounding counties are in serious condition.

Yep, rain/snow fade is part of the game with satellite service from time to time. When it's most frustrating, other than the often poor timing, is when it's not raining where you are, but the heavy wet clouds dumping a few miles away get between your dish and the satellites for a time anyway.

You don't get much rain then.
This happens at our place two or three times a summer, not for long but always at the worst possible time of course.
