King Dome in motion

We are buying a used Motorhome with the King Dome in motion. I have dish, but reading the manual it seems like you set it once for your suscriber and you never get to change your mind. Is that true, or am I reading it wrong?

Also - do they work pretty well? I have a travler in the garage that I could install, but thought I would give this a try.

Yes, you will be able to set that up for use with a Dish 211 receiver without issue. That should be the one with the digital display inside. If you don't have the owner manual download it from King Controls and you will be able to set it up in a couple of minutes.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

The MH is a 2013, so it can't be too old I wouldn't think. It's a KD -9704.

I believe my home Hopper account will allow for one 211 receiver, so I was going buy one and try it, but suddenly wondered if I could change it to Dish after it was set to Direct. I guess I can give it a try.

Depends on the model of King Dome, most can be set for what ever provider you want to use. Some have a series of switches inside the dome you set to pick the provider (Dish or Direct). Others you use the on/off switch in a set sequence to select the provider. With out knowing the model of dome it's hard to say, but if you can set the provider initially then you can change it later.

King Dome does not use switches. That's Winegard. If it is a recent KD in-motion antenna there will be a digital display inside. You use this to set the antenna for Dish with the correct setting being Dish 1000 (or maybe just 1000 or similar). There is also a 1000a setting which is the EA satellites and may be necessary in some of the Eastern US.
Some of the older KD models will either use a KD keypad to reprogram or, if it is old enough, can no longer be used with Dish due to recent changes by Dish.

We had a KD on our MH.
They can be set up for Dish.
When our KD died it was going to cost too much to repair. So when's with a Traveler. Like it better.
