Yup, just take a look at the national coverage maps for the different major carriers. Once you do that, I think the choice will be obvious. The trick is to get that carrier's coverage for less then what they want to charge by signing up with them - which is why so many of us liked Millenicom.

I full time and need something other then spot coverage.

Mine was working today, but.seems to have quit tonight. In fact that is how I found this thread. This is the first I knew anything about all of this. I never recieved any emails or calls from anyone but my device stopped working tonight so I got online on my phone to try and figure out why. Now I am not sure what to do. Guess I better find an option quick though.

According to the latest information I've heard from Verizon, they will shut down the Millenicom accounts on December 8th.

I have read on other forums that some Millenicom customers are moving to Excede because they have a Hibernation Plan to benefit people that don't need the service year round. If anyone does this on this forum please update us on your experience. It sounds good, but personal experience is always best. ..Edited: Just found out this service is only good for RVers that are in one fixed location. ๐Ÿ˜ž

I just got a call from Verizon, and they were offering to reactivate the Millenicom hotspot to a 20gb plan for $99. They were also offering to upgrade it to 30gb for $130, essentially converting it to the "double-data" 15gb plan that was available in October. Told them we'd already done that with Verizon and got a newer piece of hardware as well. They said to hang on to the old hotspot just in case, as if the new one should die, we can just move the sim card over to the old one and be alive again. So we have a hardware backup. ๐Ÿ™‚

So - make sure you ask "what else" when/if they make their pitch.

And we all know how successful Iridium has been!
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

SpaceX Will Announce Micro-Satellites For Low Cost Internet Within Three Months

SpaceX, Elon Muskโ€™s startup, is committed to bringing space travel to the masses. Now Musk has also confirmed on Twitter that SpaceX is working on a fleet of โ€œadvanced micro-satellites operating in large formations,โ€ which will be officially announced in two to three months. The micro-satellites will be used to enable unfettered and โ€œvery low costโ€ Internet access.

SpaceX is looking at ways to develop small and inexpensive satellites that can enable Internet access around the world. The report said that Musk is working with former Google Inc. executive Greg Wyler, who founded WorldVu Satellites, on the project.

The article also stated that SpaceX is considering launching about 700 satellites, each weighing less than 250 pounds, or half the size of the smallest communications satellites currently used. The fleet would also be 10 times bigger than the largest current fleet, managed by Iridium Communications.

I made the switch to Verizon for $99.00/or whatever a month and I already received a bill from them for about $109.75 via email. Anyone else experience this?

I haven't even been a customer of theirs for 30 days!

Millenicom charged at the beginning of the 30 days ... so it's nothing new. But there were no additional charges... it was $69 and then it went to $89.

Verizon charges $99 and then adds on the taxes and fees. They expect you to pay for the data at the beginning of the billing period. You don't get to use the data and then pay for it.

I'm surprised they didn't bill you for two months on the first bill. Somehow they will get there.
