Millenicom replacement

Hi Guys,

A few years ago I found some info on Millenicom on this forum and another forum. Millenicom offered a pretty good data plan with Verizon at a great deal. Over time they went up in price and finally Verizon cut them off and offered deals to their customers at a hefty price. This was good for me as a storm chaser but was still expensive.

Well last year Huntsville City Schools in Huntsville, AL started a big digital transition. They have got rid of textbooks and replaced them with laptops. All kids have a laptop now and they encountered another problem. Kids with no internet at home. So they partnered with Verizon and started a great deal where parents get a Verizon MiFi router at a good price.

Well earlier in August they opened their program to the general public. There is no geographic restriction for use or purchase. The MiFi router is included and the best news is it is UNLIMITED 4g LTE data over Verizon for only $47.75 a month.

I've used it all over the US including Chicago and Nashville within the last few weeks and I have had no issues with it at home.

Yes, you would think that would be true except that this IS an LTE area.

Yes I have a location I frequent that has an extremely high traffic density, and I often see very low signal strength on our phones , as the tower cuts power To reduce the number of connections

My signal level this morning jetpack is -98db , phone is -96db only two bars on the screen icon


Your speed will improve. When you reach an LTE area

Sometimes it's all about location! Across the street, on the other side of the Interstate, the speeds are much better.

i will say, email and forums , are a little slower than earlier in the day, more traffic on their servers, but peak possible performance is barely affected

will test again tonight a locale that usually gives me signal and speed problems

ok..its here..finally..will be testing soon, right now i'm on the usb tethered phone Not wifi

i used the tracking number on the pkg to find the shipping info
Fedex is a big joke

the received the pickup info Sept 4 friday
but did not pickup the pkg until wed the 9th, 5 days after receiving the pickup order

it then went overnight to memphis tn, and then overnight to LA

it was local on Friday morning, but NOT delivered until today.. 11 days after the order, and i had no info to go on until after the pkg arrived
i don't blame Huntsville school, i Blame Fedex
you think they had no pkg deliveries or pickups in the area for friday the 4th sat mon or tues.. does not seem likely

BUT who do I blame for not sending me the shipping info
the school system or FedEx ?
not that it changes anything when you assign the blame, it eases my conscious to blame the right enity

I have to report that the unit works great!! We were in upper lower Michigan which typically has poor coverage and we had at least 3 bars at all times. Simple to use and very cost effective.

Have you checked to see if your payment went through? They won't ship until it does.

Someone posted that there IS a VPN setting under the Firewall section of the menus.

I do not see any VPN settings in any of the menus or in the owners manual.

Thanks... my tunnel was having trouble and since the download I was doing did not need the tunnel, I as able to get it done without it. Not sure what was going on with the VPN, it worked fine later. Might have been an issue with the company end..

I might have to get one of these mifi as additional, I'm often over my ATT data plan if I count the home internet, so when traveling, I would be over so looks like a good option.

I ordered on the 8th, and received a notice from FedEx for delivery on the 16th.

got the confirmation on the 4th, today is the 12th
