My apologies as I wasn't thinking at all when I wrote that sentence. I meant the Dish 411z receiver box and a remote control.

I got the X2, the vip211z and a remote control for the vip211z as a bundled package.

Get the X2. Look on Amazon to find a deal where it comes with one wireless controller. Also Camping World runs specials on them.

Tim,
What are you referring to in this post where you mention a wireless controller? I am not aware of any controller for the X1 or X2.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

I have an X2 and love it.

Why ??

1. It can get either the western arc or the eastern arc satellites, whichever are more visible. Tailgater only gets western arc.

2. It has 2 cable outlets so you can have 2 TVs connected. Can watch 2 different programs as long as they are on the same sat. Tailgater only has one outlet.

3. A little bigger sat dish. Can make a difference in marginal conditions. Tailgater dish is one inch smaller.

Just aim it in the right direction and sit back.

* Buy the (expensive) Winegard tripod that fits it. The X2 can only take 2 inches of water before damage occurs. The tripod has already saved mine once from being flooded.

Suggestion if you have an Iphone. Get the 'Dish for my RV satellite finder' app. Cost is $5. It uses the camera to project 2 sets of 3 red balls (1 set is the eastern arc and 1 set is the western arc) up into the sky to show you where the satellites are. Then just set the X2 so it can clearly see them. Very cool app.

I would not add a sat dish receiver to the top of your rig. What happens when you get set up and find out a tree is blocking the receiver. I'd rather have mine on a 50 ft cord that I can move around.

And . . . I also bought 35 ft of chain and two padlocks so I could lock the X2 to my 5th wheel. Sad but . . .

Did I mention you should get the X2 ????

I like the Pathway X1... it's much smaller and easier to carry and store.

Just purchased a Pathway X2. Easy setup and worked great! Did a lot of comparisons and decided this was the best for my needs.

It means get the X2. You'll have a greater chance of acquiring DISH sats with an X2.

X1 and X2 are both fully automatic, nothing to set!
Both are usable with Dish (Network) only and require the 211/411 series receiver(s). The X1 will work only with the WA satellites (110, 119 and 129) and the X2 can be used with either EA or WA satellites. The X1 can also be roof mounted (now or later) and the X2 cannot. Due to the larger internal antenna the X2 will get a higher signal strength but at the cost of the added size compared to an X1.
Both are excellent antennas.

X1 semiauto set elevation power up and let ant. find sats.
Way better than a tripod. Works for dish and direct both.

X2 fullauto finds sats, for dish only cost is higher.
