Intel Core i7-7700, ASUS Strixs z270E, Dual SSD 500g Samsung Evo, GTX 1060,
I know, looks like a gaming setup, but it's not - it's pushing two monitors (Ben Q SW2700PT and ASUS PA 248Q ... for developing high-end photo and art files for large/scale prints ... so, limited video, if that matters...
Sales folks says Crucial is best -- but, it's a salesman, selling me what he has in stock - so I'd like an RV.net tech opinion instead 🙂
Thx ... M44 🙂

Am building a new desktop 'Fractal Define C' box - but have no clue which RAM (16gb = 2-8gb) and am looking at G. Skill Jigsaw and Kingston ... can anyone comment on these two or a better RAM for this set-up

Make sure to get the RAM modules recommended for your MotherBoard. It's not just RAM type and speed. You need to get the correct clock timing(s) supported by your Bios? Not doing so could result in BSOD, and system instability.

I'd be hard pressed to see why you'd need 32GB.
Me too -- It offers the build set-up with "a generic" 16g RAM, but don't like anything "generic" on anything if I can help it. So, went looking for a better brand RAM - I'm not "tech smart" in this area, just more a "user" of technology. But, I still want a good quality setup when I do it.
Will go with 16g G.Skill - looks like ... it's only a +$20 from the "generic" in the basic desktop.
Thanks to all for advice - M44

Costs $20 extra for 16g upgrade ... I could go to 32g for $136 upgrade ...
It's the G. Skill PC4 24000 / DDR4 3000 Mhz either 16 at 2/8g or 32 at 2/16g
This is not gaming (much, some) mostly photo & art ... < puzzled > Thx M44

For me, G-Skill, then Crucial. I wouldn't buy Kingston.
"Relaxed" usage with either will be fine.

Of course there's caveats to everything. Don't mix old and new, don't mix brands, don't mix specs.
With that high spec CPU and your intended workload I would recommend 32 GB. DDR4 ram is dirt cheap right now. If your builder wants a fortune for ram call them out on it or buy the minimum and go to Newegg.
