Waterproof Connection

I installed a mirror mount Sirius antenna on the top of my roof ladder. I ran the wire down the ladder and underneath my coach to the cab. I had to use a 20 ft. Extension cable to reach the cab. How can I waterproof the connection where the wires plugged together? Thanks

Boy does that take me back to the fifties. When I worked as an electrician's helper, we twisted, soldered and or wire nutted all our splices, wrapped with rubber tape and then with "Friction Tape". I remember when 3M came out with plastic tape and how much easier wrapping splices became.

Thanks for the info. Used liquid tape and after it dried, I wrapped the connection with gorilla tape. BTW, if anyone is looking for a place to mount their Sirius antenna, this method was easy and nothing is blocking the antenna.

I just remembered two products.. one you can often find at Dollar General, Wal*Mart and many other stores on the SEEN ON TV counter. Even Publisher's clearing house carreies it.. It is called (Among other things) Rescue tape. It is a streatchy silicon Rubber tape self sealing and works great.

The other is Antenna tape.. Now googling tghis comes up with a lot of non-hits but http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Aantenna%20tape

At least one of the products is it. Again, very much the same kind of tape. Self fusing Silicon Rubber.. Folks who have tried it said when they took the connection apart.. years later.. it still was bright and shiny as the day they hooked it up.

This one is heavier, I buy it in ten foot roll at home depot about $13

The thick tape will be a more permanent solution, you will have to cut it off with a sharp knife if you ever need to get to the connection,
But absolutely nothing will get in there if you use this stuff correctly
Stretch it about 50% when wrapping the connection
No need to cover it with anything else
This is high voltage, high current, weather proof

I use 3M splicing tape. You stretch it as you wrap and then cover with normal electrical tape.
