WiFi Network....Sometime Internet Sometime Not

Searching for a solution to have a wifi network in my RV that is easy to connect to an internet connection but doesn't need to be.

Here is what I am trying to accomplish, I want to add a Sonos system, a server for music and movies and be able to use my phone to control both. This requires a LAN but not necessarily an internet connection. So that is part one....a wifi network in my RV that may or may not be connected to the internet.

Part two....
When available I would like to be able to connect the LAN to a WAN be it public wifi or my hotspot and would like to be able to do this without to much effort. possibly a iPhone app?

How would I do this?

A Pepwave SOHO router or Cradlepoint Router will allow you to setup a secure wired or wireless network within your RV. Your connection to the internet can come from an ethernet connection (cable or DSL modem), WiFi as WAN, or a Mifi or Jetpack. Pretty easy setup.

We use an Asus RT-AC66U that allows us to have both wired and wireless (WiFi) connections in the trailer, and is not dependent on having an external WAN connection. I installed two 8-port managed switches that give us a bunch of wired connections (Gigabit Ethernet) which run things like a Roku, Apple TV, and a TVIX box and media server. The wireless side is used by phones and laptops.

We have both DSL and DOCSIS 3 cable modems that can be hooked up for WAN (Internet), and it will also hook up to a cellular phone or mobile hotspot via USB.

I would suggest a wireless cellular capable router that will
(1) accept both a USB signal input (in case you ever want to tether your phone or a hotspot) and (2) be able to do WiFi as WAN if you want to use and rebroadcast the campground WiFi.

You would have to be in a campground that had REALLY good WiFi in order for the WiFi as WAN to be very effective.

WiFi Ranger's Go2 would be a good choice if all your devices are pretty close. A step up would be the Pepwave SoHo router. It will broadcast the WiFi further distances.

Either one would also provide the LAN you desire for non internet devices.

Do the devices you wish to connect to the LAN require a physical Ethernet connection, or do they connect over WiFi?
