Did the Windows 10 Anniversary Update happen yet? It is reported to happen sometime today. If so, is anyone experiencing any difficulties?

Although I run Windows 10, I have my connections set to metered . . . so I can't tell about the update.

Thanks,
Jean

I too have been waiting for the Aniversary update to show up. I was expecting to get an ICON on the task bar like when the original WIN 10 came. So far I haven't seen it...

I also have not been auto updated for it either... Maybe it just takes longer to get the notification out to everyone eligible...

My daughter went on the MICROSOFT web site and it is there for downloading...

I'm almost thinking now it is there if you want it. I'm quite happy with I got so far and don't really want to upset my WIN 7 Operations mode using WIN 10...

Think I will just wait it out. I have four WIN 10 laptops here in this household.. Two WIN 8.1 Laptops and two WIN 7 laptops that have been ipgraded to the WIN 10 when it originally came out...

I don't know if my daughter has downloaded the Aniversary Update or not...

Anyone with any other news on it yet...

The other half reminded me that there are 3 more machines to be updated including the MIL's, so I will have to go the hard drive route.

on edit argggg half of the machines are 32 bit, the other half 64 bit. Now I have two updates to download.

I can't use the Verizon 3G, it would take a hour at peak speed. I might be able to stick a micro SD card in the unlimited Cricket phone, that would take under 10 minutes. Near me is a hot Sprint tower that pulls down around 30 Mbps, I could pick up the update while going through a drive through.

I also have any number of stores, restaurants and a library that I can pick up WiFi but is it safe to use public WiFi for it?

The tool will create a 32 and 64 bit on one flash drive, at least 6gb in size. When you run it uncheck the use recommend settings and then you can choose 32+64

I think it's safe to download this over public wifi, the connection to Microsoft is encrypted, and the tool verifies as it downloads to avoid corruption.

You can download the Media Creation Tool and use it to put the update on a usb flash drive or dvd-r, instead of downloading the update three times.

Well, I believe it is 3GB+ in size. For the record...the "Anniversary Edition" is a complete reinstall of the operating system, and when it finishes, there is a migration of the settings in the old version to the new. Actually, it is not much different than say a computer going to Windows 7 to Windows 10.

You are better off letting Microsoft control the process rather then trying to "force" the process, etc.. Also, were it me I would want uninterrupted, internet while the computer in question was going through the "Anniversary Edition" process.

You dont have to wait for it if you want to get it. If you manually run the check for update and it shows nothing, click on the 'learn more' link which will take you to microsoft and you an start it from there.

So far three desktops upgraded, one at work, two at home. None of my laptops see the update yet... they claim they're up to date using the older version of windows 10.

I have 2 Windows 10 computers. I tried the update on one and it rolled back after encountering an error. On the second computer it went fine although this thing took maybe 1-1.5hrs to download and install.

I am on a metered connection also, but I just manually checked for updates and it was reported that I am up to date as of 8/3/16 at 3:21am CDT.

So no update for me this week or am I just too early checking?

8/2/16 3:20EST -- Windows 10, is downloading a "feature update" as I type here.

8/3/16 Edit: Download took a good 45 minutes to complete. Install of the update took about the same amount of time to complete. The update was successful.
