Well I took off dome cover and still can't seem to find a model number. It did have lnb part number on tag next to dish but can't find that part number anywhere on web.I do have a direct tv receiver which I'm pretty sure is ok it was new last summer.I must have sk3003 as this is not hi def.
I live on an island and that's why I'm trying to fix it myself real pain trying to get it off island in the summer.Thanx for all replys

Try on a sunny day with blue skys,do you get anything then?
Mine worked ONLY on a sunny day,any clouds and all I got was checkerboard patterns. It was a bad (weak)LNB.

No, the Trav'ler is fully self-hosted and the antenna should lock on with no receiver, the wrong receiver or a dead receiver.
Hopefully, he will answer my questions above when he returns.
Since it is DirecTV then he either has the SK-3003 (not HD) or the SK-3005 (Slimline 5 and HD).
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

Bill, does the travler require DC from a receiver??

If so he could check the power at the coax on the dish to be sure his coax is not open.

OK, If it is a SK-3005 Trav'le dish then it is likely you have a dead LNB.
Mine did the same thing about 6 weeks ago. After a trip to the factory and now two weeks at a local dealer it is to my knowledge still DOA. Dead LNB was the first diagnosis.

Keep the info coming here as it does not good to go off forum.
Where are you located? What messages are you seeing in the control panel while searching. If the 101 satellite cannot be located (even if others can) it will not lock on.
Does it stow after a time but the display stays lit?
Any other info you can give?

If this is a SK-3005 traveler, send me a PM and I will give you some information on the antenna system.
