Black water tank

At the last campground I attempted to empty my black water tank. Howewver, I was only able to drain down to 1/2 of the level according to the inside tank monitor. Any idea what the problem is and how to drain the entire tank?
Thanks

back flush adapters..been thinking about getting one of these, so what is the difference between the $45 and the and the 45 degree $24 one, other than twenty bucks?

Getting a dowel to measure the depth of the tank and commode seal and waterproof it as much as possible. Hoping for high pressure at most campsites during full hookup, planning to wash the black tank every week, on our shakedown trip, I hope to see if the backwater sensor is really working.

The adapter I linked can be used to "back flush" the black tank with the gray tanks, and you also can "back flush" black tank alone with a garden hose. You might as well be prepared for any issues that arise.

No need to replace the entire valve, just get one of these, http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/rv-hydro-flush-45-degree/14496

The problem is, (and it's not your fault), you trusted that stupid, lying monitor, they are notoriously inaccurate, a little piece of toilet paper, or other "stuff" gets caught on the sensor, & it doesn't read correctly.

Better than holding your hand on the hose is to get a transparent coupling to go between the RV sewer connection and the hose. You can see what is coming out. Especially good if you are rinsing the tank.

I used to worry about that until someone here clued me in that the waste tanks are larger than the freshwater tank, so you have no worries about the waste tanks unless you refill without dumping. I suppose you could get an overflow by cnsuming a quite a few gallons of drinks . . .

Agree to all, in my passport where I push on the check switch also makes a difference. I normally keep a hand on the hose to make sure it's done emptying....

Sensors are probably dirty. I gave up on my sensors. I look down the hole with a flashlight to see the black tank level.

The problem is most likely the monitor. They rarely work.
