Like Google Maps (free, online) and a Truck Operators Map (shows the grade of the slope.)

Even PDF is fine, but I could only find one for Michigan.

If you have an Apple device try TopoProfiler(5 bucks). It does exactly what you want for any road in the country. If you buy it send me a PM and I will give you some tips. Best 5 bucks I ever spent.

If you have to buy a paper map, I would recommend a Trucker's Atlas. Available at most truck stops.

Not free, but I bought this after a Tom Tom sent me down a nasty road in the Catskills.

Hence my request for both road and Interstate maps ๐Ÿ™‚

Is there no national map? Is the only option to buy a paper map? If so that's fine, I just thought I'd ask.

I had an interesting experience in western Maryland and West Virginia. On the steep grades on the interstates, with just our TV, I needed to brake lest I hit 80 MPH. With the travel trailer, I needed no braking. The big sqareish front and back generate a bunch of drag and the TT isn't that heavy and I've read similar things from others.

Official interstate grades are not that big of a deal to a camper. Of course. A windy mountain road with 10 and 20 MPH switchbacks could challenge the brakes in some cases.
