RV and non-RV toilet paper comparison video

Here's a good video I found comparing some common RV and non-RV toilet paper brands. I was surprised with the results. It's not too long. I put it in this section because this is a common question with a lot of different opinions.

My wife is a member of the big wad club. There has been a few times where it caused a clog and would not drain completely, so that turns into a lengthly fill and try to drain again as many times it takes to break the clog loose. I have managed to get her to use somewhat less paper and have had no other clog issues. That said, we use our regular tissue we use at home, Sam's club brand.

Put more water in the tank before you dump. We use the Sam's brand too and have never had an issue.

Way too much information...:B
Try eating some of that Kashi cereal for breakfast - you will be amazed at how much less TP is needed.

Just don't use Northern. It's the only brand I've found that causes blockage. Everything else works fine.

I have been using Northern for 9 years full time. Never a problem. Just use a lot of water regardless of what you use.

I used to use it at home. I repeatedly had clogging issues when I used the bathroom in the original section of the house (with the original 1940 plumbing vs the 1992 section).

Changed to Costco and AngelSoft brands. Didn't have clogging issues again. At all.

In addition, when I snaked the sewer pipes for tree roots, the northern would always come back up caught up in the roots. The other brands don't and I only have to snake every 5-7 years instead of every 2 years.

Apparently Northern doesn't break down easily. So if it gets caught up on something, it's there for a good long while creating a potential backup issue. The other brands don't hold up long enough to create that backup issue.

It's a HOLDING TANK, for Pete's sake. Does the "solid waste" break down? No. It sits there until it is dumped. The same goes for TP. Who cares about it breaking down? When you dump your tanks, the TP will get dumped whether it is "broken down" or not. If you are nervous, get a tank rinser.

Pete has OCD and so do 50% or better of the people on RV boards when it comes to truck sales, diesel or gas, brands of anything, tires, toilet paper, motor oil, air pressure, electricity, bearings, wheel chocks, tank chemicals, flushing, etc. etc. etc.

IF it has 'RV' on the label it is overpriced, thin and useless

I like my 2 ply thick fluffy Charmin and a big wad of it.

I don't process waste/TP....just 'hold' it until time to dump
Whether it has dissolved or not doesn't matter
Dump line is 3" header and the the weight/volume of liquids is more then enough to carry the 'stuff' down and out...WHOOSH!

Why too much OCD about waste tanks, TP ------GO Camping !

I agree. I use Northern triple quilted or whatever they call it. Just use lots of water and it never causes a problem. Certainly not the problem when using the thin stuff (finger going through it) or having to use a bigger wad to keep that from happening.

X4 or 5 or whatever it's up to now.

It's a 3" pipe for Christ sake!! A 3" pipe!

I can say unequivalently if you clog a 3" pipe you:

A: are not using enough water. (more than likely)
or
B: eating some weird stuff or using about a 1/2 a roll or more/ use.

Water flushes your troubles away. Use it liberally and you will have no problems no matter what kind of TP you use.

That video surprised me a bit, as the Scott did not do so well. We use it at home, and it seems to break down very quickly in the toilet - I notice this when the kids don't flush, lol!
