Well the warning is because CG Wi-Fi is non-encrypted allowing anyone to hack in and piggy back on your signal, Same for McDonalds, and .. Well, most all public wifi, If you do not need a Pass code of some kind to connect and get an IP, then it's non-secure.

Your personal data is much more likely (by a factor in the thousands) of being stolen by hackers targeting a large merchant (think Target), a large internet company (think Yahoo) or a credit card processor themselves (think Global Payments). Then there are all sorts of scams involving retail clerks, fake card readers at ATMs and Gas Stations, stealing your information out of your snail mail box and you just plain responding to phishing emails. If your bank's URL shows https, and they all do, it is safe to conduct business no matter what public system your are logged on to.
Although we should be able to assume by now that everybody knows this rule, I will repeat:
Do not EVER transmit sensitive data over a CG wifi system!
That means Banking, Bill Paying, Medical or other personal identifying material (even your home address). Assume everything you transmit is being recorded (by bad people).
