A letter to my neighbor flying his drone early this morning

Hello neighbor,

Welcome to Bluewater Key RV Resort. Isn't this place amazing? We are surrounded by water in this tropical paradise. I just love relaxing here and enjoying the quite surroundings on the water. Don't you? It's such a beautiful place that I don't mind spending $175 per night to be here. I think it's wonderful.

I see you have one of those new drones. Those things are very cool. You said you just got it a couple of days ago and Amazon delivered it right to your door. The battery lasts over 20 minutes, does it? You must be very excited about it. But could you do me one small favor?

Could you please wait a few hours before flying it around in the morning? It's 7:15 and I awoke this morning to, what sounded like, a huge swarm of angry wasps above my coach being chased by a pack of dogs.

You may not realize this, but some people like to sleep a little later in the morning. My wife and kids are still trying to sleep and we are in the Keys. Key West is known as a party town and some folks come to these parts to party and stay here because it's close to town. They definitely don't get up at 7:15 in the morning.

While I'm thoroughly impressed that you want to hone your skills on that drone and will take amazing video of the tops of all our RVs, you may wish to consider the consequences of starting so early. I'm certain some folks will complain to the management and those drones you love to fly may end up getting banned all together.

With a little foresight on your part, you could continue flying your new toy and everyone can enjoy the park.

Exactly... seems to me that a wide-spectrum random noise R.F. transmitter should be able to overwhelm those fly-power Chinese remote controls. Just need enough interference to cause it to lose control, and ....**

The guy flying the drone at 7:15 a.m. - He was probably upset because the people that came in late from partying the night before disturbed his sleep.

If this was all I had to worry about, I'd have it made!

Hey buddy, that's a nice drone you got there. Where'd you buy it? ... Are you planning to fly it again tomorrow morning? Oh, you are. What time? ... Well, I want to get some video of you with it, but 7:15 is kind of early; my wife and kids are still trying to sleep at that hour. Come to think of it, probably a lot of folks are trying to sleep then. Heck, quiet time doesn't end 'til 9. Any chance we can get together about 9:15, so I can get some footage of you and that bad boy?

Hey there you big dumb galoot! Stop flying that blasted noisemaker so blanking early, or I'm gonna have me some target practice! I bet I can pee farther than your drone can fly!

Wife, quit whining. You don't like the noise? Then YOU go out there and tell him what-for! (man rolls over and puts pillow over head)

just take out 'drone' and apply something else another person constantly wants to complain about. Your dog's nails are clicking the asphalt near my RV at 7 am. STOP! Your sneakers are squeaking too much as you jog past my RV at 6 am. STOP! Your bike is making gear noises as you pedal near my RV at 7:45 am. STOP! Is that a diesel engine I hear early while other RVers are departing? STOP!

oh come on.......ugh....the complainers are way more annoying now then the offenders! 🙂 🙂

It seems that you're bored and this is the second posting in a week that really was meant to cause controversy versus being a real issue. The post on trucks are safer is just as silly. Maybe you should buy a drone of your own. Something to keep you busy so the trolling with silly posts will stop.

If I had a drone in the keys, I'd check on the crowds where I wanted to eat and look for schools of fish in the ocean. The tops of RV's are of no interest.

No, I wrote the letter for this forum's consideration only. I know how we all love a good "bad neighbor", "barking dogs" post on occasion. I hadn't seen "loud drones" yet so I thought I'd put this experience out there. I have a feeling, we are going to be seeing more and more of these stories.

BTW, to answer some of the previous points:

1) I'm plenty "manly." In a man contest, I'm pretty sure I'd beat out any of the posters who suggested I "man up." In fact, women get pregnant at the sound of my voice. You can't be more of a man than me.

2) The barking dogs were owned by the pilot. Apparently, he got great satisfaction teasing his dogs with the drone and watching them jump up and try to catch it.

3) If this was a big problem for me, I would handle it (no doubt in the most manly way possible).

Now you really didn't give him the letter did you? You mean a King Air isn't sound proof? That'll teach you. Spend a little extra for a prevost next time :B

You might want yo think twice about criticizing the drone police, small RV park in Montana we stay at had an a$$ hat flying a drone , and harassing some resident bald eagles. Thanks to the drone police that got shut down . He was lucky he didn't get arrested .
