Am I reading this right? (Receiver capacity)

I just saw this sticker on my new (to me) tow vehicle. Am I correct in assuming that with a weight distribution hitch, I can have a tongue weight of up to 1500lbs?


Weights:


TV:

GVWR 9200 lbs
GAWR FRT 4670 lbs
GAWR RR 6084 lbs

I'm confused about this since the Frt and RR numbers don't add up to the GVWR.

Epilogue:


The new trailer and truck are doing fine, the first journey (to a CG an hour down the road) was uneventful, and I wasn't half bad parking the much longer combination. The tow experience was WORLDS better, due to the "proper" tow vehicle. I won't say that I forgot the trailer was back there, but it was about as close as it could come to that.

A closer examination showed that the hooks are getting blocked by the locking part of the hitch pin - as were the D-rings. Unfortunately, the hitch pin is right above the hook points. I'm not sure what to do about that; but I can get the hooks *most* of the way on; that will have to do until I figure out something more intelligent.

I have yet to get to a scale and get weights now that I am "fully loaded"; but that is on my list for the next trip.

I appreciate everyone's help and input. I certainly was thankful for you all this Thanksgiving.

This. That is the receiver's rating and in no way affects the vehicle manufacturer's ratings for GAWR/GVWR.

Missing is the GCWR, which is set by your TV's OEM...'R' for rating,
but many do not believe in it...I do and you, the OP, need to decide
if you do or not

The most important of the axle ratings is the rear, as that is where
most of the weight will be. No matter fiver or tongued.

Very little goes onto the front axle. Just look at 'most' TV's and
note where the center point between the wheels is...and that most
has the drivers door rear edge smack on that center line...or there abouts
on 'most' TVs

So, most of the stuff loaded into/onto the TV will go on it's rear axle

I don't tow with water or anything in the tanks - at least, not much more than a token amount.
They never have as far as I know and probably never will. Only the Manufacture can give the straight scoop.

3/8" grade 70 safety chains are rated for 5400lbs each working load. That's what you'd typically find on a travel trailer like yours.

Many times people will just go to the hardware store and pick up something that "looks right" and end up with D-rings that are rated for something pitiful like 300lbs.


Each. After connecting one to the hitch, I'm not sure that they are big enough for the hooks, so it might be a moot point.

I am concerned that anything smaller might not be adequate. That will be plan B, though.

The problem I have right now is that the safety chain hooks don't fit on the new hitch... So I bought a pair of small D-rings that hopefully will fit and accommodate the hooks.

When you set them down on the concrete, did you notice the dull thud vs tin can sound??? It is amazing the difference between the hitches!!!! I replaced the factory tin can on our '10-1500 and talk about night and day difference....
