Annual Spring Purchase

It seems like every spring before the season starts I make a camping purchase. Previously for the popup and now for the trailer.

This year's purchase was a 12.5 foot telescopic ladder, which I plan for roof and slide top access.

How about you?

thanks,
Dean

So far I've just swapped out the guts of my Webber Q (burner tube and regulator assembly).

I'm eyeballing some sort of converter upgrade this summer since we bout a seasonal spot. The hell-cheapo on the rig now will run that battery dry in short order if I don't put a better unit in there.

Yeah, every year there is a list of I wants & a list of I needs.

Seems like the I wants get defered every year. That 2005 vintage TV is still there. Those noisy swivel rocker recliners that I hate are still there too.

No fun stuff again this year but we will be getting some new rubber. The truck is getting up in milage so its annual service will need more in the way of bushings & such to get it back to near new mechanical shape again.

Maybe next year I'll get that wide screen TV & nice chairs.

No new purchases for me this year. I have been doing this long enough that I have everything that I need or want. Maybe if I find something new that is helpful I'll buy it but, for now I have enough "stuff" I don't need anymore.

Of course I say that now and then some new, shiny, object will come along grab me and make me buy it.

X2, I bought a 12.5 telescoping also! It just didn't work the best in all situations, so I bought a 7' folder, just like pictured. It works much better for me, and if I need to get on the roof, my FW has a ladder on the rear.

I have a telescoping ladder. Be very careful closing the telescoping ladder. I have one and that thing can easily smash a finger.

Last year I bought one of these.

I think we've purchased everything we've ever wanted, and already have "it". However, our first trip of the year was the first week in March. So our "preparations" came early this year. In preparation, I figured a new way to haul a step ladder in my truck bed, instead of laying it on the floor. I bought 2 bungie cords and now can suspend it from the inside of the side panel storage boxes on the shell inside the truck. The ladder is now off the floor and give me more bed space. I can also just keep the ladder there and don't have to take it out, even if not camping. I'm just leaving it there now. So my "big" pre-camping season purchase was 2 bungie cords! I have an 8 foot truck bed, and that's a 7 foot ladder.

I just sold the pain in the neck LCI tongue jack that came with our Freedom Express and plan to replace it with an UltraFab 3502 so I can rotate the head 180 degrees and thereby allow the especially tall tailgate on my Avalanche to clear the tongue jack head. I've owned one of these tongue jacks before and it's a solution that's worked well for me in the past. :B

Last summer I installed a 1000 watt PSW inverter in the trailer's front pass through storage compartment so I can power a few appliances in cases where we lose shore power. As soon as the weather warms I'll wire the output to dedicated duplex receptacles inside the camper and replace my existing 8 yr old G27 Interstate battery with a pair of G31s which will more than double my AH capacity and allow the inverter to better cope with heavy loads without excessive voltage drop. :B
