Another Bonehead Manouever!!

Ahhh gee, sometimes I wonder about me.......:S :h

So I get in my truck this morning to head to work. Away I go, pull out into traffic, drive a few blocks and see something flapping in my passenger side mirror.

What the???? I looks like.... a 40 foot extension cord dragging down the road behind my truck.

Yup! drove away without unplugging my block heater!

What a dummy. I stopped at a red light, quickly got out, opened my hood, pulled the cord out and gathered it up and threw it in beside me and drove away.

Sigh!! Still shaking my head!

I examined the cord this evening. Aside from a little road rash on the plug, the thing was perfectly intact!! I can't believe I never ran over it with my dually wheels. 40 feet man! And I didn't run it over.

What is my next performance going to hold?

Oh YES!!!!

Today I shed my gloves, my balaclava, My work coat and my hoodie and I was still roasting in the gear I had on.

UnderArmour is a wonderful invention! Didn't need it today but had it on.

And another funny sidenote.
I have a 1500W heater going in the TT. due to these Arctic temperatures, I just dial it and let it run full tilt 24/7.

I knew it was going to warm up today but never thought to crank the heater back a bit!
Well, I got back here after work today, opened the door and stuck my arm in to turn a light on and was greeted by a sauna like wave of air.

Oh oh! What did I do now?

Heater was running full blast all day. Looked at Arther and he said Hey buddy I'm 90.1F! 90.1? EEEK!!! Oh yeah there's a smiley for that.:E:E:E

You all know Arther don't you?

For those that don't, it is Arthermometer. (our thermometer...get it?)

Anyhow, 90.1F Eek! Oh wait - :E Sure glad I'm not paying the electric. But I have to respect the privilege.

So I dialed it back, way back. Opened the FF. Hey it ain't frozen shut!! YAHOO! Left the door open for a while.Good chance to air the joint out a bit. A tad humid in here. .

So a few minutes ago I go out to have a look at my tank situation. Stepped on some water covered ice, lost it, spun around, one foot goes south, one goes north and I do a faceplant in the ice and snow. Right wrist took a shot and so did my right knee. Ouch! Bob! You're 59, not 25!!!

Here I am face down in a puddle of ice water.... Guess I should get up. It's wet laying here.

Good thing tomorrow is laundry day. I just made some more stuff to wash. I gingerly get up and dust myself off.....
Guess I need my corks to keep some footing....

Wrist is sore as a hot place. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

And I hide behind my laptop keyboard, laughing at my dumba.. move!

I have done similar things - lol

I laugh about it after but at the time....

I always back my truck into the driveway. After a while you get to know just how far you can back up without bonking something.

Years ago, back in the days when I thought it was ok to have a couple beer and drive home.....

I forgot about the big aluminum extension ladder I had sticking out of my truck, in the box and up out over my rack......

Never did replace the section of gutter that I wiped out!
I did straighten out the end of the ladder though.... :B

Having lived in the area for more than 61 years which gives me a pretty good handle on the weather, you know, one of the few places in Canada where you can golf 355 days out of the year, WHY are you using a block heater?:h
I know some folks like to keep their diesels warm but in Surrey?!?!
The average low temperature in the coldest month is several degrees above freezing.:h

What Westend said!! Perfect!

Come to Calgary!!

In Surrey I have never even considered having to plug it in.

I have not one, but two brand new, still in the bag factory bras for my 2003 and my current truck. Never thought of bringing one with me to this frozen tundra!

When the wind chill was in the minus 40's, my poor diesel protested starting a bit. But it started. Then I figured - hey, maybe I ought to plug this thing in.
Then I had to search under the hood to find the never used cord, where it was hiding.

Then the stupid morons from GM make the cord too short to run out the front of my grille. I mean really? How much can a few more inches of wire cost?

And LOL - read your sig! Haha!!

All meant in fun my friend! ๐Ÿ™‚

Although I've never drove off with the block heater plugged in, I have attempted to pull into the garage with bicycles on top of the car. Didn't fit through the the doorway too well. ๐Ÿ˜ž

We had auto eject air hoses in our fire engine. Someone put a new hose on but used a regular non-auto eject coupling. I pull out of the station, hit the lights and siren and pull the hose out and am dragging down the street. I had to stop and disconnect it. How embarrassing.

He's off to Alberta, working and living in his TT. You should look for his other threads and follow the adventure. I think his tanks may be thawing out at the moment.

Bounder pulling out of his space in a campground in Parump NV. I was walking and saw his shorepower cord still attached. I yelled, he saw me and stopped just after it was yanked out of his MH. Four wires, all hot, bare ends and not shorting out...yet. I ran to the shorepower and turned off the breaker and removed the cord.
