Azdel anyone?

Hi,

this material is getting more press (and sales time). The primary value proposition is that it won't take on water, so mfgs are touting that they are now immune to delamination due to water damage. But this also means that the sidewall lamination process is now different so there is a new/introduced risk of delamination when dry. or is there? just wondering if Azdel really moves the needle.

And Cirrus was in business how long, a couple of years? Not saying that they didn't make a good product, just that they couldn't compete because their products cost more to make.

The only wood is the cabinets and furnishings inside.

Thats not taking anything away from Azdel, it's just that not that many MFG's use it and you're limited to what they offer in an RV.

I have to agree with all of what you said !

Coachmen, who makes a big deal of Azdel, does NOT use it on all of their products and some of their products only use it on the sidewalls, NOT the front and rear walls.

Thats not taking anything away from Azdel, it's just that not that many MFG's use it and you're limited to what they offer in an RV.
IMO it is superior to luan by a mile.

Delamination between Azdel and outer skin (typically Filon) CAN still occur if the adhesive fails. The big win for Azdel is that it will not rot or mold because it has no organic compounds (wood fiber).

Water is still the biggest cause of delamination. If no water gets into the wall (and it should not with a properly installed roof) then you should never experience delamination
