Are there any brave souls camping in the PNW during the heat wave. Are people using their RV and its AC to beat the heat? Has the sound of generators increased?

No mention of humidity. Does that mean the heat is a dry heat? That would make it a little more bearable.

our house is only 5 years old and we have a modern heat pump system. it has managed to keep us cool during this PNW heat wave. didn't have to jump in our TT.

Our 2 previous motor homes only had 1 A/C which did not work well in the heat of the day with the sun hitting it, so we purchased a Vornado fan to help circulate air had it blowing to the back of the coach to help cool the bedroom and it made a big difference. Now we have 2 A/C units and keeping cool is no issue but we still use the fan to circulate air.

Wife and I went camping Jun 18th for three days. Ambient temp was 100ยฐ and rising at the campgrounds on our first day. AC compressor would trip the breaker within minutes. Unbearable temp reached 113ยฐ inside so we left the trailer and drove home. Returned the next morning and towed the trailer back home. I had problems with the AC tripping the breaker last year so I replaced the capacitor and added a hard start capacitor. Tested it out and had no further problem until last week's camping.

With the heat wave we've having, I decide to just replace the AC with new, so swapped the existing 11 yr old last week and finished yesterday.
Today's ambient temp was 100ยฐ and inside was a comfortable 78ยฐ at the minimum temp setting. Happy wife, happy life.
We're headed out this Friday for a week's camping.

Have been at Palo Dura Canyon SP before when it was 105 and my 2 A/Cs kept the 5er comfortable.

Not camping per se but I'm here with my TT parked at home in a car port and I'm surprised how well it's doing. Temp outside was 108+ today and the 15K AC is easily keeping it 75 inside and even the Norcold fridge is staying cool. In fact, I had to turn the fridge down because it was only 33 inside.
In fairness, the trailer gets very little direct sun but still, I'm impressed.
Thankfully, we have central air in the house otherwise we'd be in the trailer.

EDIT: OK, temp now 107 and one whole side is in the evening sun. After my wife made dinner in there and used the oven (she just had to have tater tots with her cheeseburger..). AC has slipped to 80 inside (set to 75). Turned fridge down to 4 and it's 35 inside.

I guess we would not have used the oven if we were staying in it and I could turn on the second AC.
Still, pretty good performance for an overgrown styrofoam cooler.

I thought due to lack of AC in homes that people moved to RV. Also due to stress on the electrical grid generator use would increase.

Be safe with generator use and direct exhaust away and don't refuel a hot machine.

Weโ€™re camping in our driveway. Only AC we have. Generator noise increases every time the constant AC and other draws smoke the circuit the camper is plugged into !!
