Dentures on the road

My DW and I will enter our third trimester in life and hit the road full time in June. Years of medications have taken their toll on the DWs teeth and the only option we can afford is dentures. We wanted to get her into them before we left Michigan but like everything else up here they are way way to expensive. Has anyone found reasonable (?) priced dentures, tooth extraction included anywhere in the country? years ago I use to be stationed in Elpaso and knew people who got a good deal in Mexico but I fear boarder towns are not what they use to be.
I wanted to add, we have Tricare insurance and they pay 50%

Janss, please send the name
That's fantastic! It just so happens Mesa is going to be one of our first stops. We are planning on staying long enough for our granddaughter to attend Kindergarten. If you know of a reasonable place to FT while we are in Mesa that would be great also.

I know a dental lab tech in Mesa, AZ who makes dentures and partials at very reasonable prices (compared to dentist office). He doesn't do tooth extraction though, nor insurance. He will do everything to make sure you are satisfied, including seeing you over and over for adjustments, included in initial price. He actually made a second set for my friend who wasn't satisfied with the first set (wasn't really his fault). Let me know if you want the name and I'll send it to you privately.

Lots of people, including lots of snowbirds, go to Algodones, Mexico for dental work. Algodones is near Yuma, AZ. I think that town is completely made up of dentists! Search online and you can find recommendations.

I am not wearing dentures yet but it is inevitable to most of us. I can sympathize with your wife, I also take a lot of meds and notice a huge change in the past few years.

I watched a program on the telly a while back. Part of it told horror stories of people having dental work done in Mexico. I am sure that there are some good and bad dentists there, like anywhere. The program made a point of telling people to really have references from people you know before having any procedure done. These dentists seemed to take advantage of seniors, travellers mainly. I hope someone here can give you some positive info.

a good set of 7 "step" dentures are usually price at 1200 for upper and 1200 for the lower (excluding extraction) Now make sure you are comparing apples to apples and oranges to oranges. There are cheap or "price impact" dentures out there that are made with 1 visit and 1 impression from extraction date. They are meant to be re-lined (the healing shrinks the tissues throughout a 5-6 week time period, then the denture no longer fits) So you end up paying 600 bucks per denture but turning around and having to do a 300 dollar re-line. Just be careful... Get all the facts and be diligent in your research. Dentist never give away their services so there is always an underlining fee/cost with any cheap offers.
