Just had to share this - found an Engel 12 volt 40 quart fridge freezer at a pawn shop. Brand new, $300. $340 out the door with tax and a 6 month store warranty. It retails for $849 on Amazon. There's no digital readout, but for the price, I won't complain.

That..... Looks like a newer version of the going on 12 year old model that's behind me as I type this. Very happy with it..

For the folks who do not know this is a 12v/120V Compressor driven cold box. Running it draws a great whomping 36 Watts. Yes, that is correct THIRTY SIX watts. at 12 volts that is 3 amps.. I have over 500 amp hours of battery.

Problems I've had with it:
Well, the 10 ga wire that feeds the power distribution panel it eats off of went bad.... (I hooked up the 120 volt cord till I got it fixed a day later)

Uh,,, that's it folks.. Oh, I took it outside a year or two ago and applied compressed air,, Wear dust mask when doing this.

If you wish my opinion of this product line: VERY GOOD
If you ask me to recommend a product like this. I would recommend ENGEL every time.. The unit itself has NEVER given me a problem.

Wow, where are these high class pawn shops? Around here it's all bling jewelry and used up power tools.

Congrats just the same, I'm jealous.

Yeah, they mostly had junk, other than firearms. I don't think he realized what he had. I wasn't about to educate him.
Ha ha, no education offered....priceless. Hey, don't feel bad about that good deal, the Pawn Shop guys have previously extorted some customer to pay higher than retail. I find that most pawn shops are not run like Pawn Stars, the TV show. I don't shop them often but maybe I should, that Engel is great find!

I still have one out in the garage doing nothing. I had it in my camper for nearly 2 seasons then it got so noisy you couldn't sleep. I contacted the Engel reps who literally told me to beat the daylights out of it. If that doesn't fix it, tough. $1100 down the drain.

So, we have had one for about 3 years and it is a wonderful piece of equipment. We use ours as a freezer and it has worked flawlessly. What a great find for you!
