EZ Pass monitoring speed

Some states are checking speeds in toll plazas:

I recall hearing stories about the NJ Turnpike checking how fast you went from point A to point B based on your toll ticket. And then mailing tickets to speeders. It may be apocryphal tho. The same could be done using any of these electronic payment systems, it would be trivial to calculate speed between toll plazas.

I agree it would be easy for them to do this and could probably be legal too. Similar to using cameras to ticket people for running red lights.

Geez doesn't anyone read the posts above? I just commented that the tollway people could in the future ticket people for speeding between toll plazas.

I got my NY ezpass suspended while living there for speeding through the toll plazas.

, I do know first hand I got one on the Pa turnpike I covered the distance to quick. Nj is a lot harder to check then Pa from point A to b this past summer, they suspended my ezpass for going thru to fast in nj. Quite frankly, they were right.

Not sure if they are issuing tickets or not, but I know for a fact that when you pass under one it captures your exact speed.
