Ford Edge vs Chev. Equinox

We are trying to decide between the 2016 Ford Edge and Chev. Equinox as a dingy (4 wheels down) to tow behind our Class B+. Both are capable of being towed as confirmed in the owners manual.

Can anyone comment on the Ford 2.7 L Eco Boost 6 cylinder as compared to the Chev. 2.4L 4 cylinder or 3.6L 6 cylinderl

Both vehicles weigh about the same and have the same towing requirements and speed limitations.

Would be interested in hearing of any experience you may have with either vehicle or engine size.

This came from the Ford owners manual.

You can tow your 2.7L EcoBoost or 3.5L (6F50 or 6F55) equipped vehicle with all four wheels on the ground.
If you tow your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground:
Tow only in the forward direction.
Release the parking brake.
Vehicles with Keyless Start (If Equipped)
Start the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal, and then pressing the keyless start button until the vehicle starts.
Press the brake pedal and shift the gearshift into neutral (N).
Turn the vehicle off by pressing the keyless start button once.
Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery. You need the door key to lock and unlock doors when the battery cable is disconnected. See Changing the 12V Battery.
Note: The anti-theft system does not work until you reconnect the battery cable.
Start the engine within 15 minutes of reconnecting the battery cable.
Vehicles with an Ignition Key (If Equipped)
Start the vehicle by pressing the brake pedal, and then turning the ignition key until the vehicle starts.
Press the brake pedal and shift the transmission into neutral (N).
Turn the vehicle off by turning the ignition key past the accessory position. The key position is between the accessory and off positions. See Ignition Switch.
Disconnect the negative (black) cable from the battery. See Changing the 12V Battery.

We drove the 2016 2.7L 6 cylinder Edge. It was a very nice riding vehicle but the price for us worked out to $10,000 more than the Equinox. The Ford was definitely quieter and more powerful than the Equinox, Installing the Invisibrake in the Equinox could be a problem - that needs to be checked into.

Finding out what our trade in vehicle is worth was a bit of a shocker. Lots to think about before signing on the dotted line!

Nothing about battery or only V6. Dick

We looked at both and chose the Equinox LTZ V6. I didn't like having to disconnect the battery when it's towed, and the Equinox has more BHP. Good luck.

You can't flat tow the Edge with the Eco boost engine. It has to be the v6.

Ford says you can for 2016

Just be absolutely sure the model Edge you might buy is towable. Not all Edges are. We have been towing our for three years. Very easy to tow. I did install a charge line. The vehicle does not get the best mileage but has lots of power.
