Gauges for Propane Cylinders

I would like to put gas gauges on my 30 bottles. I looked at some on the internet and they all seem to say that they are good for 10 to 40 lb cylinders.
How can different size cylinders use the same gauge? Are they simply measuring gas pressure?
On a scale of 1 to 10, how accurate would you rate these $16 - $20 gauges?

Thanks in advance

Just a quick update on the propane level checker. It arrived today and seems to work like a champ. It showed red on an empty tank, and green on a half full tank. I pushed it against the tank, it showed green until I tipped the tank, then it went to red, and then back to green when the tank was releveled. I think the little bugger actually works. Great news!! I won't be using mine for a while, likely running the snowblower late Wed, into Thurs. Anyway our $37 was likely well spent.

BTW...Took my pup on a 500 mi round trip today to see a Dermatology specialist and had great results. I don't want to say how many propane checkers I could have bought with what that cost. She means the world to me! I would pay whatever it takes to keep her healthy.

I tried one of those and had mixed results. It seemed to work, but the readout varied some, and I never could figure out why. I never moved it around but a consistent reading seemed to be beyond my particular unit.

I tried to make sure I used it before activating my remote meat/smoker thermometer sending unit. I finally gave up on it as it was also interfering with my readings from the thermometer, and making it unworkable.

If you're trying to determine how much LP is in a tank, check this out. I have two of them and they work great. I use the app for my IPhone.

Propane Gauge

I got a set of these with the push button indicator for Christmas...works great. Push button is calibrated to 20s, but you can use the phone app and adjust the setting to larger tank size and use the app to view levels. Otherwise the 30s will show full until they drop below 20.

I've not seen a better price anywhere so far. $37 seems to be the lowest price around. And much cheaper than Amazon.

I did come across one from a company called Truma, but since they are a European company their product is scarce, and expensive.

I'd go with this.

Look around for a better price. We sell this for $20.

Got one for Christmas. It works.
It's good to hear more feedback about these propane level checkers, since I just ordered the one off Ebay. A bit pricey for my blood, but will be nice to have one around.

I would like to learn more about this product. (personal use)

There are in-line pressure gauges for the DOT cylinders, but all they can really tell you is "empty" versus "not empty." If there is any liquid at all in the tank, what determines gas pressure is temperature, not the quantity of the liquid. These gauges would be more useful as thermometers if appropriately calibrated.

You do... I want one? Where do I send the remittance?

We'll need to charge shipping which would negate any savings.

Mine works good. Paid about $30 on Amazon about year ago. I did have to read direction twice though. Pretty picky if not right. I'd buy again.
I really think I'll get one of those. I have a scale for my home smoker and BBQ tanks, but it's pretty inconvenient when the tanks are onboard the toyhauler. ๐Ÿ™‚ And pouring water on the tanks in the confines of my storage area doesn't really appeal to me.

Ordered one this morning, after reading this thread. $37 free shipping...e-bay.

I don't need to know the level until one of the two cylinders is completely empty and needs filled.
Indicator on the automatic regulator does that and works perfect for me.

X2 works great for us.

x3 for me. If i'm leaving on a trip where I think i'll need a lot of propane, I pull "in use" cylinder off the rig and get it topped off. regulator switches to the other tank automatically.

Only rarely have I used both 20# cylinders without noticing the red flag on the regulator. in that case, the 20# cylinder for the barbecue gets mounted up.
