General RV Center

We are thinking about getting a new TT and recently visited General RV Center in
Jacksonville,FL. We found a floor plan we liked and talked to a salesman who offered
what I considered a Fair deal.

My question is has anyone here had any dealing with this Dealer. I think they are a small chain of family owned dealerships. Please anyone with any dealings with this
dealership, good or bad I would appreciate hearing your feed back ???

Thanks,
Birdhunter

P220sigman,
I just noticed your handle, I love it. Sig is my gun of choice.

Thank You Very Much to all who shared their experiences with us. When we purchased
our first TT we had no idea if we were going to enjoy RV lifestyle. To our great surprise we have Loved it. It is going to be great to have a brand new TT to start our
new status as RETIRED,:~))

My neighbor has bought 4 new motorhomes from them in past 15 months, starting with a class C ending up with a 40' diesel pusher. He has been very happy with their service and support as well as the deals they made on the trade-ins. Their service has been fast, done on time and no hassles. That part really impressed me as an interested observer. I have not heard him say a single negative thing about the experience he has had with General, and believe me, he knows his stuff when dealing with big ticket items.

We shopped at this General RV dealership. They didn't have a maintenance facility, so I asked what they did with service issues. They said they took them to CW in St. Augustine. I'm not knocking this, but is good info to know before purchase - and things may have changed. Since you are in Georgia, ask them where you would have to go for service.

Bird,
We purchased our Pup there 2 1/2 years ago and they were great. Since it is about a 3 hour drive home, we had reservations at Flamingo for the night after we were picking up the Pup, but there was a problem they needed to fix and the person that does the work for them was out of town so they would not be able to get to it that day. They pulled a TT out to the park for us to stay in that night, paid for our dinner, and then delivered the Pup to us the next week after the work was done. We did out second walk through with the delivery driver who spent about 2 hours with us making sure we knew how to set-up and operate everything.

It was a very positive experience from the looking part all the way through the purchase. Never any pressure and what I felt was a fair deal without having to spend hours haggling. We recently stopped in to look again and again felt no pressure and received all the help we needed. I definitely recommend them for the sales part. We did not use them for service (haven't needed any) so I can't comment on that side of it.

Looks like there is a new Travel Trailer in our future !

You probably already know this but there are several large dealers in the Jax area including General. Don't sell yourself short. Besides General there is Camping World and Dick Gore in N. Jax, Rivers in W. Jax, Camping World and Ocean Grove in St Augustine, and a smaller outfit that gets good marks in Green Cove Spgs. named Rick Bakers RV. We enjoy a great selection down here in Jax.

in November 2013 we bought a used 2007 Montana from the Huntley Illinois General RV dealer. We were treated very well they did everything they could to make buying from them a great experience. I would defiantly be getting it serviced there and would buy from them in future if we need a newer fifth wheel.

Birdhunter,

Sure did notice where you live (Georgia) but your comment of "small chain of family owned dealerships" needed a little help! I also posted info for others knowledge too in my 2 posts. General RV is a very big business and still growing fast. We haven't purchased any of our many new RV's from General because they didn't carry to brands we purchase or want and there are so many dealers here in the Midwest and General is only one of them. Few people actually know how huge the RV industry is and that most of the entire Worlds RV industry and production is right here in the USA with 83% of that being in the Elkhart, IN area and that's where your new RV will most likely have been made.

General RV's Wayland, MI location in West Michigan is about 20 miles straight south of downtown Grand Rapids. Several big RV dealerships along that 20 miles and still a lot more in the local West Michigan area and all seem to have very happy customers and get very good reviews. The biggest RV dealer in size (Lakeshore RV) and also in RV's sold per year is at 4500 E. Apple Ave (M-46) a few miles east of Muskegon. Gobs of RV dealers in the whole local area since it's only about 100 miles north of the center of the Worlds RV building industry/corporations. Take your pic!
