Granny rail problems

Has anyone had a problem with kids moving the granny rail to the travel position (in front of the door) and, therefore, locking you into your RV? If so, how did you prevent that?

That's not fun. If there is an active raccoon population in the campground toss a couple of open cans of sardines under your friends rig late in the evening......now that's fun.

Devious! I love it!

Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

Our 'granny rail' fits against the door with no rubbing and many thousand miles of travel in that position. It does open if someone would close it on you. At least the brand we have.

I've never had issues with this before but on the old trail I did modify it to prevent this from happening. One screw and large washer did the trick.

I can see where it could happen. But have never actually heard of it happening.

And I do travel with the handle in front of the door. 11 yrs and no wear and no black marks on the door.

Never had a problem, never considered it a problem, consequently never have done anything about the "problem".

Nope, never have, but this has been posted before where folks have modified the handle so it won't turn toward the door, only away.

Dealer also told us to never travel with the handle in front of the door. The rubber on the handle will rub against the door, erode the rubber and mark up the door. We've never traveled with the handle against the door.
