Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

Another member suggested a new forum section with new products but it doesn't look like it will be feasible. So I thought I would post this here under General RVing Issues. If enough people post (even if you have mentioned it before in another post) we can keep it near the top?

Do you have a handy hint, a new product or an old product that makes your RVing or Camping much better?

(Sorry, no commercial advertising allowed)

I'll start:

Someone in the Camping Van posted a reference to using a Super-Chamois to wipe down their shower. I have been using an icky old thick sponge and I like the chamois idea so much more.

Now I want to hear what works for you

for the ratchet straps extra length ends, I fold the extra strap back forth on itself and use spring clamps to clamp back to the main strap. I have never lost a clamp or had a strap end come loose.

That's what you get for getting a TOOL box! :R

TH has a 16x16x72" tool box in floor - way more than enough room for all the tools, tie downs, concrete canopy weights, other stuff, miscellaneous stuff and/or oddball stuff we care to carry.

Single complaint about mounting it: I thought there's be enough room between the tool box and the wall to store DW's little step ladder. Wrong. I should've gone with my original thought and instead of mounting the tool box tight up to the fire extinguisher, I should've taken the extinguisher off the wall and remount it on the side of the tool box. Project for next winter since The Season will be here in a few more days.

Garage-mounted rollaround tool cabinet for galley storage.
Our toy hauler has very limited galley storage - one drawer (pots & pans), the cabinet under the sink (cleaning stuff) and one smallish side cabinet (dishes & small appliances). RV has two large overhead cabinets but we're really leary of putting anything heavier than TP, paper towels, other such light stuff up there. Fell into closeout sale at Sears, got a multi-drawer rolling tool cabinet for carrying smaller kitchen stuff, food, &c. Took the wheels off & screwed it into the garage floor. Perfect size for where the laundry hookup is and there's no interference with either the M/C or pair of ATVs in the garage. With 70# drawer load capacity should be more than enough storage for a couple weeks on the road.

How to you keep the tools out of it??? DH claimed the whole 7 drawers for his tools!!!!:S

We also took the wheels off but he uses two of the ties down rings to hold it down....

Our outside kitchen's refrigerator is simply a dorm fridge- obviously not made for traveling. The door would pop-open while on the road. To keep it closed, I use a simple baby lock on it:

Hope it works out for you! Lots of little mods and tips on my site:

Thankyou! We added a small bar fridge and I was wondering how to keep the door closed. Thanks Again.

Doug, I'm new to this forum, camping a couple years. We live in the southeast part of the state. So far my favorite campground is Old Greenville.

I had never heard of it... Seems to be a very interesting campground. Looks like a fun place to visit. Thanks.

DH changed out the vanity faucet to a single handle version. I am soooo happy. Much easier to adjust water temp and flow. Thanks, Honey!

stfmwif: What faucet product did you use to change out? Was it RV specific or standard household. Want to do this on ours. THX!

House hold faucets fit fine, and give a better selection at a lower cost.

I don't remember the brand, but it was a standard household 4" vanity faucet. We are very happy with it.

Kim,

Are you new to camping or just to the forum? Lots of great camping in MO. What part of the state are you from?
