The Hells Angels National Rally is in Cody, WY July 29 - Aug 2 while we're Camp Hosting at Buffalo Bill State Park just a few miles down the road. Park Police working extra hours and Cody has extra LEO just in case. We're hoping they stay in town and don't use campground.

After reading this thread, it is obvious that the best course of action for the camp hosts is if they should run into someone wearing Hell's Angels colors they should just go up to them and tell them the gig is up. They researched them on RV.Net, and they are nothing like they were. They are now just a bunch of wannabe hard A's, harmless as little butterflies and it will take a lot more than a couple of dime store patches to scare them. I am sure that once they are told off, those Hell's Angels will just scurry off and warn all their friends that everyone in that campground are on to their scam. Heck, they will probably just get out another bottle of warm milk and cry themselves to sleep. Problem solved.

Interesting thread. I might as well throw in my two cents; I'm not doing anything else.

My experience:
The HA overt activities are generally law abiding enough to keep LEO from needing to get involved.
Make no mistake the HA are a criminal organization and their covert activities are just as brutal as back in the day. What has changed is that it is a much more modernized more professionally run criminal organization.
Have I met and interacted with HA on a personal level? Yes. And my interaction was a very positive one, but I had guest privileges. If I didn't have the protection of my host it would not have been a comfortable situation; they are not boy scouts.
OK that's my two cents, not adjusted for inflation.

They are what they are, and what they always have been. Believe what you like, but they are still violent criminals regardless.

So where does that put the Devil Dogs? USMC.

The folklore Hells angels of yesteryear and the Hells Angles of today are 2 very different breed of bikers and people. I did undercover work with bikers 35 years ago and then last year I had a chance to meet and get to know the Hells Angels who are in Sturgis every year. Many of them today are true professional people who quit the rat race and are enjoying a free life. They are NO longer the 1% group that they were 30-40 years ago. I would gladly break bread with them at "my" table or theirs....

Simply not true. Do a quick search on hells angels recent activity and you will get hits involving violence, drugs, prostitution, murder, etc. for very recent years. Not sure who you prefer to dine with but the hells angels would be far from my first choice.
You can believe the internet and all its fallacies or you can go meet the people and make your own decision. Personally I prefer to think for myself. Like I said, I have been around them since back in the early 80's and know what they are today. There are many clubs that try to mimic what the HA were in their heyday, but the true HA are NOT the club of old.

Dude, are you serious? This was news articles, not some opinions I was reading. And the shoot out I referred to in an earlier post happened way less than 30 or 40 years ago.

And we all know, you can believe the purveyors of the news as gospel. They also never lie, or make up information to "fill in" an article, and they research everything and present no bias at all. Sarcasm key off. I am not defending the HA, but I am criticizing the "news" as a reliable source.

You're right, the news media certainly puts their own spin on things. However, when they report things like "hells angels suspected of..." or "hells angels arrested for...." it's probably more fact than fiction.

Since you brought it up, I would enjoy reading the reports dealing with your U/C investigations. I'm sure they have all been closed, and i can simply do a public information request. Can you provide the agency name, case #'s ? Defendants last names?

Sounds interesting.

Camped next to a Biker Club a month or so ago as there was a major rally at Laughlin. Nicest bunch of people, and fun to be with. Think of all the bad things people say about us motorhomers driving down the road, dumping along the side, fouling the rivers and lakes, living at Walmart.
Enjoy the company, you might be surprised to learn that many are professionals, enjoying a day away from the office.
