Hellwig helper springs on my 1996 silverado

I have a 1996 Silverado 1500 5.7 vortec V8, my camper is 3600lbs dry weight and I'm always filling the bed with fire wood and all our camp supplies is close to another 500 to 600 punds. So I'm towing about 4500lbs. I have a weight distribution hitch but I think all the bed weight is sagging the truck more than I would like so I ordered a set of Hellwig 990 helper springs, I was wondering if anybody had any experience with this brand or product that could tell me if they liked them or not. Thanks

He didn't claim it would nor did he ask if it would.:R
All he asked is if anybody had used them and if they liked them or not.

It won't change the sticker on the door post at all, but it will sure improve the way the truck rides and handles when loaded.

Troll post.
OP, I've used most every combo of helper springs, add a leafs, airbags, Timbrens, etc. They all do the trick, with differnet traits.
Perhaps my favorites were add on coils I put on the same generation truck as your 96.
Loved those. They were cheap (I was in college) and they didn't affect empty driving much but came on quick when you loaded it up.

I have the 3500lb set on my 2013 2500hd, I am happy with the performance but they do make a little noise. My truck runs around at about 10,800lbs with a commercial work cap.

While under there working, consider adding also a hellwig sway ( anti-roll ) bar also if you don't already have one. Worthwhile addition. I have one from hellwig under one of my trucks.

I had a set of the LP 25's on my 97 F150 and they were great. Just ordered a newer version for my 13 F150.

Helped with the sag when loading heavy in the bed.. Seemed to help when towing the trailer and loading stuff in the bed too.

Took care of the wheel hop too as a bonus.. ๐Ÿ™‚

Good luck!

Mitch
