Hydraulic vs Electric motor levelers

Which is the most preferred system for automatic levelers? Electric motors or hydraulic pump system??

We have the 4 leveler Big Foot system and it is hydraulic. The first time we used it, we were scared silly because it moved so fast.

I thought all automatic levelers were hydraulic, learned something new today. When we bought our Montana some had the 6 point level up system, some didn't. The unit we ended up buying didn't have it, I didn't think at the time it was that desirable. Fast forward 3 years and now we own a Mobil Suites with the level up system, it's a hydraulic system and we're VERY happy with it. MUCH faster then the electric jacks on the Montana.

Electric all day. Sure--it is the slower system, but waaaaay less to tear up.

This is our second coach equipped with Bigfoot dual action hydraulic levelers. The previous coach had their single pump manual push button system, and this one has their four pump automatic system. Both work flawlessly, and with the dual acting cylinders there are no issues with springs to deal with.

Electrics. My brother can power his up and down. I have to depend on springs to retract. I also have to very careful with seals. However it seems to me the hydraulics have more lifting power.

Hydraulic for speed. My landing gear is painfully slow (fortunately, that's generally my wife's job).

Hydraulic on 5th wheels has the advantage of being *fast* to hook and unhook. Hydraulic can do a better job of not twisting a rig. Electric is generally cheaper.

Electric is a trailer.

Hydraulic if a motorhome.
