As to the question of what I'm doing right- Going camping now is a good move.

I winterize in the fall, sanitize in the spring.

You want to "Winterize" now.....and I'd suggest "De-Winterizing" in the Spring, and I'd also sanitize the water in the Potable tank in the Spring...especially if you only do it once a year. If you do it in the Winter, you would appear to be sanitizing the anti-freeze, not the water in the tank (which should be empty to avoid freezing).

Or, are you one of the many Snow-Birds, who has the RV sitting at home all Summer, and then heads south this time of year?? In which case...yeah, I guess you are doing things correctly....just out of synch from what most of us do:S

Not necessarily, how much bleach concentration did you use?

I do it to my fresh water tank.
