What has happened to the tire industry? Through out my life I have never had to worry about what brand tire I should buy. Now, with what I have been reading, it is imperative, I pay attention big time to what brand I buy. I have used all brands of tires throw-out my life time, now that seems to be out the window. I find this very sad as to what has happen to our industry. Is anyone else upset with this, as to the fact that no one seems to care?

That's pretty much it. Information overload. Negativity overload.

My little AMG runs expensive Continental super car tires. Front tires last a while, but two years ago, they put on two year old tires and they have dry rot on them. So this week I'm ' talking to them about replacing them at their expense.
Maybe they figure everyone runs Leguna Seca or somewhere and it doesn't matter and will be changed in a week.
They just make tires to last long enough to get out the door, so to speak. But...theG670s, 13 years old, looked like new and felt like new, inside and out, when they pulled them off, in May.
Michelins on my F150 are about 7 years old except one, I think. At any rate pretty old. still look good at 209,000 miles.
So maybe we have to buy American and rely onr ecomendations, of trusted friends and family.

Unless you're talking trailer tires, in which case I wouldn't haul a trailer to the junkyard on a set of Goodyear Marathons, lol!

I can only tell you about one incident with Chinese tires - tried to talk my son out of it - he 'saved a hundred bucks or so' - he bought a set for his work-truck Toyota Tundra ... within about six months, the tread was so worn, he was afraid to drive it and was selling the Toyota anyway ... so he bought new BFG tires, and sold the truck to his cousin - Cousin is on BFG third year and running strong.

Those tires wore like junk, rode like junk, and are worth half the price, if that.

The trouble today is: Mfg THINK folks want cheap, (and a lot do) so they give them cheap ... cheap tires for a cheap price. And what they get is a cheap tire for a cheap price -- But salesmen convince folks they're buying quality tires for a cheap price - and that's the rub.

There are those of us that want a good quality tire and a good price - but not a cheap tire at an inflated price ... (HA, did I really write that?) Many of us are not looking to save a buck on tires, we want GOOD solid quality, for a reasonable price ...

What would be interesting to me would be to know the percentage of each brand that blow out. You hear about the China tires that blow out but I'm sure there of more of those out there. Don't think its how many blow out but what per cent that counts most. Just a thought.

Here's part of the reason...maybe most of the reason:

Most people don't have a problem with their tires.
You never had to worry about your tire brands because unless you knew someone first hand that had a tire blowout, you never heard that most tires are bad.

Now with the internet, those people who have had problems get to broadcast those problems to the entire world and everybody assumes that nearly all tires are bad.

There is a case to be made for too much information and information paralysis.

First trailer with ST tires went 11 years next one went 9. I pulled the TT often at 70 or 75. The last TT was only 4 years old but even the nail I plugged never had a flat. Our MH has 8 year old tires but goodyear says they are good for 10. Don't air them up to the max, go by the weight, and leave them alone, most people don't have flat tires. I check them every few months or if they look soft.
