Impact wrenches

With the possibility of needing a flat tire changed when no roadside assistance is available I'm wanting to be prepared to do the job myself.
I've pretty much checked into the aircompressor/inverter, but I'd like to know the opinion/experience of rv'ers with batterypack impact wrenches.
I'll be dealing with lug nuts requiring 140 fpt.
Thank you

"Spendy" ?? . YIKES !!.:E

Here's a whole bunch of folks with "serious" wheels (incl lots of 22.5's) and a great solution for breaking lugs torqued to 500# with one hand, no breaker bar, no expensive impact and/or batteries (that you forgot to charge) or compressor required - - and it's way, -WAY- *LESS* $$$ .........

*Torque Multipliers* - discussion starts at post #12

Here's the YouTube Video referenced in that thread -

Even more TM options for less $$ on Ebay.

BTW - for eagle eyed viewers - the lugs the guy in the video is unsuccessfully attempting to break with the long breaker bar - are reverse thread.

If you go the floor jack route, a boondocking neighbor I camped by once, had a floorjack that was aluminum and that thing was real light. Check some of the race car sites to find one.

I like the idea. would have made my first blowout more enjoyable, however, so would a better jack. I'm almost convinced to get a floor jack for the next trip.

I have an electric one that works great for around the house. I find is more easier than having to use an air one. I don't see the need for one while travelling. In the one case were I had a blowout

Same here for west Texas and it is predicted to be over 101F today and less time on the side of the road or in a bar ditch full of grass burrs.

I have used a breaker bar but the other issue is if the wheel has to be in contact with the ground to prevent it from turning when you break the lug nuts. With an impact driver they will knock them loose with the wheel off the ground.

I'm pleased with my Milwaukee 18v 1/2" impact that puts out over 400 ft lbs of torque. I'll never go back to an air impact.

Pricey though at over 3 bills, but it can handle just about anything including suspension work on the trailer on the side of the road if necessary.

There are cheaper ones too and just about any decent 18 to 24 volt impact will easily do what the OP wants. 140 ft lbs for these types of impacts is nothing.

You must have more flats than most if you need something more than a 3'cheater bar.

It's only 140 Lbs do it by hand. Just get a long breaker bar and extension for the duals. Haven't needed anything more in the 12 years I've had mine and I repack wheels every 2 years whether it needs it or not.

I doubt the impact wrench will be able to provide sufficient torque but they will be handy to remove lug nuts, once loosened, and add lug nuts until a cheater is needed; with a good torque wrench, of course.
The above is based on my 18V Makita impact wrench.

I use a 3 foot long breaker bar and deep socket. Battery never wears down.

I already had an inverter so a 120v model from Sears Craftsman works perfect for me.
