It is really tough to see people living in such conditions when we have McMansions built for just a couple. I wonder what those Resort Parks would say about his rebuilt trailer.

I sure do like the ending of this topic.

I worked with a fellow for over 30 years who had MS. He would fall all the time, and would get angry if someone tried to help him up.

I tried to help him up once and he told me he did not need my pity.

I told him I wasn't doing it because I pity him. I just needed to do something to make myself feel better. And that I saved my pity for those that really needed it.

He stuck his hand out and grabbed mine. And I swear, if I was around when he fell after that day He would just look me in the eye and wait. Just before he retired he was having a real hard time getting up and I would grab him around the waist and tell him no sleeping on the job. ( I was a boss again at the time)

Sorry for the long story but this guy reminded me so much of him.

I have a cousin that was discharged from the military with 100% disability (MS) guaranteed income and health careโ€ฆ
since school he always wanted to work for a popular bottling company of soft drinks, it was a real passion of hisโ€ฆ

He managed to get that job and gave up his military disability claim to do itโ€ฆ with great difficulty he worked for many years with progressive MS until just weeks before he was eligible for a pension and some mental giant decided he was all of a sudden to much of a liability for the company and let him go from the only job and company he ever wanted to work forโ€ฆ for some strange reason he still holds the company in high regard even though he was a exemplarily employee and got screwed in the end by them, he feels they did him a favor by allowing him to work thereโ€ฆ IMHO while there is some truth to that, he gave more than he received and left with the knife still stuck in his backโ€ฆ

To this day heโ€™s the first to offer to help others, he raises a lot of money for MS every year and volunteers at the VA center on a regular basisโ€ฆ

In many ways he reminds me of the fellow in the u-tube, ant some would make the same dumb remarks about him because they are ignorant to the facts or truthsโ€ฆ

OOPS, I forgotโ€ฆ

He says in the video he has MS. I'm impressed with his spirit, to do all that while suffering from MS. I do not begrudge him a penny!

neither do I

Someone obviously missed the leg braces and his struggle to walk, climb stairs, etc. Apparently, he also uses the wheel chair.

I agree. I would be willing to help also, because he is not standing there saying : "Woe is me. I need help." He is trying.

I am sorry if I offended anyone.

It is just that I am disabled and sometimes looked upon as if I was accepting "assistance", or accepting tax money. I am not.
I am, however, collecting on the insurance plan that I paid for.

Government assistance programs have there place and this is one of them in my opinion. I am happy to have our tax dollars help out this man and others in a similiar situation. Now the able bodied, drugged out baby makers....well I have opinions on them that I will just keep to myself.

As stated by other's, God bless him.

Disability payments are NOT "assistance.โ€ It is insurance. While working, you contributed 50%, through a deduction from your paycheck to the fund. Your employer contributed the other 50%. If you own the business, in essence, you, combined with the company you own, are contributing 100%.

If you become disabled and are approved through the S.S. Administration, your payment is calculated by how much money you put in over the years.

If I had that money over the years and invested it, I would have five times the amount of money available.

Disability is not free ride, or entitlement program. Those that get it, earned it. With some scammers excluded of course.

Im sure if he could chose to have full range of motion, and be healed ,he would give up the little amount of $600 a month. Society should help disabled people,I think he fits the requirements,he seems to have a positive attitude better than a lot of others.

If he has a disease that is considered fatal, he is entitled to disability. Does he have to work until the day he dies? Most times the problem with working is that the employer does not want to let you off work on days you don't feel well, they don't want you having to leave for Dr appointments, sometimes weekly, and to leave again for treatments and repeated tests that are needed MANY employers fire employees when they get sick rather than never knowing when the employee will be able to be at work. Higher paid occupations usually have leaves available or disability benefits that lower paid employees do not have. These type of problems usually occur for the lower paid employees.
What do you do - apply for the disability benefits that were put into place for people in your situation.
