My 'head-slapping' moment re why new TT isn't level on hitch

Our last TT had the coupler mounted at the same level as the main frame rails .. the new one has the coupler & its a-frame mounted under the main rails of the trailer frame...

started other thread about whether there are advantages / disadvantages of the two configurations....

and, now, thinking this through, just had my a-HA moment! so THAT'S why this new one sits a bit nose-high on the hitch, and why I'll need an adapter to lower the hitch ball! there's about six inches in difference between the height of the old coupler v. the one on the new trailer...

(I'm not swift, but eventually I usually get there)

Ah, another "dope-slap" moment. Happens to me all the time.

I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack, but I can still light up the room, you just have to get used to the initial darkness.

I would suggest getting a good forged unit for the drop hitch. I needed to get one for my Reese WD set up and looking at some other drop hitches I did not like the way they looked like just square tubing welded together. The curved forge from Reese looked far superior.

Thats my .02

What is the adapter? Don't you just buy a 6" drop hitch?

My dad had that happen on his new trailer... makes his setup closer to the ground than he wanted, but he doesn't venture off the beaten path near as much as he used to... 85 and still camping.. he has slowed down some though. He has a toyhauler now so it is easier to load his ATV..
