A few years back we bought a new motorhome out of state. We had 30 day plates to bring it home to another state where we had to title and get plates. I went to the DMV to apply for the title. It has to come about before a plate can be issued. About 30 days later I still have no title. The state tells me I have to wait at least 60 days before they will look into it. Finally 60 days and I call the state. They have no record of me applying for title. I must apply again and I do that day. Again I had to wait 60 days and no title. I contact the DMV again and they tell me there is no such Vin # and for me to contact the chassis maker and see what they say. I contact Ford and they verify the vin # is good and send me a letter to back it up. I take the letter to the DMV and they say they can not accept the letter as proof. They tell me I have to take the motorhome to the local police station and have them verify the Vin # on the motorhome. So I do that, take a form from the police dept back to the DMV. DMV enters the Vin# in there system and it comes back invalid. So the DMV now wants to see the motorhome. I take the MH to the DMV, they check the Vin #, at which time I pointed out there were more than one location the Vin # was stamped on the RV. They check them all and find they all match. Finally 45 days later I get a letter saying my title is being processed and I will have it within 30 days. Well in 30 days I still didnโt have a title and was told again I had to wait 60 days. Well thank goodness in about a week the title came and I was able to return to the DMV and get plates. I hate to think how many hoops I may have to jump through someday in order to sell it. Never did find out why all the problems.
