My power cord has gotten very stiff and hard to roll up. Any way to make it soft again?

I am thinking about buying a spool and some ends and selling lengths that people want.

By using this cable with the nice Camco ends with the D handles you are not spending any more than a pre made stiff cord. Much higher quality!

Exactly

We are out during the winter and pick up the anaconda many times below 40 degrees, that is some real work.

SOW cord is rated for 600 volts. You can use SJ cord that is rated for 300 volts. Less expensive and not as heavy.
The trouble with SJ is that it's outer covering is not heavy duty and can be damaged easier with pulling it over the ground. Just ask me how I know.

Hi,

Thinner insulation. That's why on 300 volts, too.

What makes it not as heavy?

I just know this stuff is the best I have seen. I am betting the gage is the same just less strands to carry the power?

Not sure if you saw the pics or not but the cord I used is 6/3.

To be precise, it is 6/3 8/1 - three number six gauge for current carrying, plus one number eight gauge for ground.

Yes Sir you are correct!

Still working on my Generator working with my dryer! Thanks for the heads up.

There is a thing called SOW cord. It stays flexible to freezing temps. That is the quality that they use on power cord reels. Buy the length you want and add the Camco Yellow ends with the D handle. You will thank me!

I assume I should be able to find at HD or Loews, or do I need to go to an electrical suppler.

I would try Blows or HomeDopie first.

Thanks, I did look at the pic but neglected to look close enough. When it was pointed out it was obvious enough. Duh. Thanks for the expanded info though.

No problem, Happy to!

I know the wire is not cheap but it sure is nice to coil up at all temps. The ends are good quality and don't short out like some of the moulded ones.
