Recent Trip General Observations

Recently returned from a trip from central IL to the coast just south of Myrtle Beach. The dogs have to check out all the site numbers in the AM so here are some general observations i made that are not supported by hard data.

not one R on the side of the road with tire problems both going and returning.

Noticed some sort of mutant class C with Freightliner cab. Always more than one in the campground.

The Mercedes powered class C's were quite prevalent.

It seemed like Fords were in the minority when it came to pick ups. That was contrary to last year.

Oh and they now have hand driers in the men's room at Huntington Beach State Park. ๐Ÿ™‚

happy trails you all.

What you see depends on where you are. ๐Ÿ˜‰ We've just returned from Down Under where "pop top caravans" are everywhere, as both traditional travel trailers and hybrids.

The only US interpretation of the "pop top" I can recall is one manufactured in the early 2000s by RVision but it soon went the way of the dodo bird, as eventually did RVision itself.

Overall, RV product quality and variety here in N America is a joke compared to what's available in Australia, especially when we're talking off road configurations which are way beyond anything we could imagine here. Poor us. ๐Ÿ˜ž

We were there from the 12th to the 17th.

They also added heaters to the rest rooms, and are expecting to reopen the south camp ground next year with FHO sites. Our first visit there was in 1980 with a canvas tent in June. Not a good idea but we were young and stupid. They closed the south CG after Hugo in 1989 I believe.

Truck campers definitely get more scarce the closer you get to east of the Mississippi. Can't speak for the east coast, but by the time we hit the upper Midwest, people would actually comment and ask about it like to was something special.
Just a run of the mill setup here in the PNW....

Just returned from a 1500 mile trip out to St. Louis. We also saw no one with rv problems of any kind along the way either direction. We also seen only one other truck camper on the trip near Dyerburg TN. Very unusual.
