Refridgerator Poll (sort of)

These questions are only for those who are able to store their RV at their house/property. (Not for those who use storage facility.)

Do you keep your refrigerator turned on or off during travel season?

If on & you live in warmer summer climate , do you leave a/c running if you leave fridge on?

We leave ours off but it sure would be nice to have it on with some staple foods in it.

My 5er is stored in a garage at my house. We leave the fridge on from April - October when we are likely to use the trailer. We pack each meal before we leave, but all the condiments stay in there for the summer (dressing, mao, ketchup, etc).

I will turn the AC on at around 90*.

We leave ours on during season. Camper stays stocked with clothes, toiletries and dry goods. We like to be ready in case we want to take off and go ๐Ÿ™‚

Ours stays on from spring to fall, parked next to the garage in our yard. We don't run the AC. When the weather is hot we try to be somewhere cool.

Our is turn off when we do not plan on traveling within 1 week. Just a habit we have gotten into. I have read reports that fridge should be left on. But have not followed that advise. WE had our fridge repaired last April. Lasted 10 years without a problem using this procedure.

Always on except for off season storage. The fridge that is. AC only on for creature comfort.

5vr is parked next to house with FHUs (30A, water, sewer)........just bought house earlier this yr. after 7 yrs. FT. The FHU RV Pad was a plus!

Fridge is ON (low setting cause nobody is going in/out of it)
Fantastic Fans (2) are set to 80*F on their t-stats (one will blow in/other will blow out)

A/C unit is off.......but I start it if I'm doing anything inside.

RV is fully stocked with clothes/toiletries/non-perishables and some cold drinks.......basically ready to go in a moments notice. Just in case!
Fact is our fridge has been ON (other than 3-4X/yr for defrosting) for over 7 yrs.

Inside rig temps have little affect on fridge temps/operation. Outside temps have big affect on fridge cooling.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

We park DP under a metal cover next to our cabin. I turn off the separate ice maker unless we need to make ice. We keep refrigerator on unless I am defrosting it. I leave the vent in the bathroom ceiling open (which helps reduce inside heat of motor home). Also keep shades closed for same reason.

We do not keep perishables or 'staples' in the refrigerator but there is usually beer, water and diet cokes ... not for the next trip but as backup for other refrigerator (I should say refrigerators since we have a spare in the garage which is quite handy especially when we have a lot of company).

Diann

P.S. Down here travel season is year round. LOL

P.P.S. I do store dry 'staples' in the pantry and cabinets. Are careful that everything is sealed properly and we have not had a problem with bugs. My worst fault is not cycling stuff so I have had canned diet cokes go bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
