Rubber roof welding?

This looks like a nice, neat way of sealing around stuff on the roof. Has anybody ever done this or have it on their roofs?

If I was somewhere 110 degrees, the last thing on my mind would be my camper roof. I sweat like a pig at anything over 80

Hot welding does create a material to material interconnect similar to melting ice to ice. It's probably the strongest of all material to material connections. When applied properly by an experienced trained technician, it should outlast any tape or adhesive bond. But, hot welding is limited in where it can be used and does not eliminate the use of lap sealant or tape on an RV roof.

I would probably take the 'belt and suspenders' approach and use Eternabond/Dicor on the welded seams. ๐Ÿ™‚

Looks nice, not sure it is any better than eternabond. Certainly more work, and the possibility of a mistake exists with this that does not with the eternabond.

Smart people always avoid like the plague being in anyplace anytime where the outside temperature is 110 degrees F and the top of your RV is at 150 degrees F or even at 20 degrees lower. Problem solved as usual by the smart people!

I would assume, just like any weld, that it is now one piece. If something did fail, I wouldn't be surprised to see it be a section next to a weld.

What happens to the "weld" if you find yourself in the South West or the Bad Lands or somewhere like that, the sun is beating down at it's strongest, the outside temperature is 110 degrees and the top of the camper is 150? Will it curl up?

I would certainly trust/prefer welded material than stick on scotch tape type.

That looks to be a pretty slick seal! I would have to wonder what may happen, with that heat weld method in the hands of the inexperienced? Yes, me, now having burned holes in my roof. ๐Ÿ™‚

I also like the idea, but not sure how/if it would be done at home? Unless you are able to purchase that what looks to be specialty heat gun and nozzle.

Eternabond basically does the same thing with a-lot less labor..

Pretty cool product though ! !

My daughter up in Lake Stevens has it on her mobile home. This is common installation for PVC roofing on commercial buildings.

That looks interesting but slow. Applying Eternabond isn't as much work as this appears to be.
