RV Books?

Do you read RV-related books that are *not* how-to books? Any fiction? I'm not finding a lot of fiction that involves RVers as characters or RVing as an element in a novel or short story collection, so I'm wondering if that's because RVers have no interest in reading about fictional RVing experiences, or if there just aren't many written. What do you think?

Check out The Leisure Seeker: A Novel by Michael Zadoorian. It tells the story of an elderly couple who "run away" in their old camper (Class B or C type)heading from their home in Detroit to Disneyland in CA. Since he has Alzheimer's (he's the driver!!) and she is dying from cancer, you know it is not going to end happily ever after --but along the way it is funny, heart-warming, and a bit of a travelogue as they travel Route 66. One of the best books I have read in some time. It's available in paperback on Amazon and available as an e-book too.

I just read "Little Big Life" a recent memoir by a woman who became a full-time solo work camper with no previous experience in a trailer or Rv --quite amusing and well worth the price!

I've always thought that someone should write a great series about a detective who lives in his RV and travels full time. Hmmmmmmm..... Maybe I should quit my day job.

Not true RV books but Nevada Barr writes about murder investigations as a park ranger at the National Parks. Lots of information about a NP you may visit.

C J Box in "Free Fire" writes about a lawyer who slaughtered four campers in cold blood in a far-off corner of Yellowstone National Park and turn himself in because there is no law against murder (which is true) in the part of YS that is in ID. So if you want to get rid of someone you should read the book why there is NO law in that part of YS -- an oversight by the Government law makers. I good book.
Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

More into travel literature, RVing does not have to be the mode. I have some of the Basch/Slater and Moeller books, but have found the RVing part not psrticlarly important, what is more useful wiil be the travel adventure. So into road trip books, whether motorcycling, camping, RVing, hiding out int he back of a van, mode is not so important as the places seen, people met, customs observed and maybe adapted to.

Start with "Travels With Charlie" because the author is a superb writer. I keep reading his "Iberia" taking me back to the Iberia I visited, over and over, half century later.

To the point of the question, I think RVers just don't represent a big enough market that publishers want to target them with a special RV adventure literature. If the publishers aren't interested, doesn't matter how many writers might be active. EBooks will change that.

This is not much help but about five years ago I read two books about a couple that lived in their RV, traveled and solved crimes. I bought them at a garage sale for a quarter each and got rid of them when I was done. Sorry I cannot help with the name or author but have you tried doing a search?
