RV Dealer / Service Center

Where to start? Well I took my RV to the dealer for some repairs. As a note this is the same dealer I bought it from and I make sure that they know that I am coming to make room for me. Well I got there and the only place to put the unit effectively blocked everyone else in. So as I am going through my list of issues with the rep a couple walks by and she says "How do you like your Voltage?" I said "I hate it" wish I had never bought it! She says WHY??? I said "get with me after this and I will tell you" the rep and I finish up and she goes in the print out the estimate. A short time after that as I am unhooking the unit the service manger comes out and says " Hay you can just take it somewhere else as we don't need you telling people our RV's suck!" I am a little older and a little more calmer than I used to be or I would have ended up in jail (again)! ๐Ÿ˜„ I did the WTH and he told me what his rep said! Well to make a long story longer I had a closed door talk with him as he knows me and he knows I don't like the unit! He said how would you like it if someone told you the unit you just bought sucked! I said SHE ASKED ME as I do not know them from Adam and how in the hell would I know that they bought the same unit as mine! More was said and at the end I think he knew he screwed up! NOW that being said I have a long memory and a lot of RV folks that go to that dealer on my recommendation! I think that will change but I am going to wait and see how the repairs come out and see if I get an apology before making that call!

I don't think I would expect very good service in the future. I'm sure the dealer won't miss any customers you might send his way if they are anything like you.

This is one of those situations where if the OP had been a little smarter things could have worked better for all concerned. I assume the end game of the OP was to get his unit in and out quickly, and repaired in an acceptable manner. So here is how it should have been handled: when the lady asked how he liked the unit, OP should have said he liked it fine, although it had some issues, like all RVs do, and that the dealer and rep here are going to take care of it. But hey, give me your name and number, and I will let you know later in more detail how well we are treated and if there are any issues. Now no bridges have been burned, no-one is pissed off and the rep and dealer know that they need to be nice to OP because 1. He was respectful of them and 2. their reputation is on the line to an extent with not only OP, but another potential customer. Maybe things don't work out perfectly in any event, but OP is no worse off, and arguably, has greatly increased his odds of a win-win for all. Good luck with your repairs. Swallow your pride, send your dealer a basket of fruit and an I'm sorry card and I bet you can undo some damage.cheers! Mike

I can't say I blame the manager for showing you the door, I would have done the same. It might surprise you to learn the people behind the counter are humans with needs and feelings, most will at least try to help if you approach them in a polite, calm, adult manner. I worked in sales and service in another industry, we had our share of customers who came in with attitude issues and ours hardened accordingly.

And yet you do not name the dealer. Interesting!

I have to say I can see both sides.

Perhaps it would have been less confrontational to speak privately or quietly with the lady that asked?

It almost sounds as if you yelled out your displeasure.

Sorry, I think your actions were slightly out of line and the dealer owes you no apology.

Of course, this is my humble opinion based upon the information as presented here. (We have heard the other side.)

Others will probably disagree.
