Latest on the Diesel fuel shortage across the upper midwest.......

Even with the oil boom I would think that it is now Nov and in that part of the country it is time to hanker down!
Good grief there is little enough to do in the summer, Winter has to totally suck.
I always felt for most of those mid west states as it is mostly vast emptiness. I used to tell my wife that if a boy lived there and he didn't want the girl next door 10 miles away he would have to move as it was likely his only choice LOL

Winter is not so bad up here, some of the time we watch the cars rust, other times we count the snow flakes that fall/blow around. Summer time, that is when we cut loose with loads of RVing!!!!
Every meal is a feast, everyday is a parade and every paycheck is a fortune!

"This even though the price of crude is bouncing around the high $90's. "

That's mostly the effect of speculation because speculators buy 'futures' in advance of price rises (they hope), thus bidding up the current price, then sell in advance of price declines (they hope) thus depressing then current prices. The overall effect is to smooth out pump prices, and is one of the benefits of a Free Market system.

If pump prices were more tightly tied to spot oil prices we'd all go nuts trying to anticipate them. The net effect would be to reduce sales because of consumer uncertainty and caution.

Gas prices continue to slowly, very slowly, drift down up here. The price spread today is from a low of $3.37 to a high of $3.45. Diesel continues to be at least 40ยข a gallon more than gasoline. This even though the price of crude is bouncing around the high $90's.

Went down to Denver Saturday and got a surprise. Diesel in Woodland Park, CO, is almost always ten to 20ยข cheaper than the cities. But driving up I-25 Saturday even the fuel stops at the exits, always the most expensive, were almost 20ยข cheaper. Diesel at 3.89 in WP, as low as 3.67 elsewhere. Sure hope that isn't a permanent thing.

Guessing you get 5 or 6 mpg that is very much of a trip, LOL

I'll go 3800 miles for a medium trip this year. I worry more about losing 1400 bucks to Synder than the cost of fuel!
Oh well not to early to search for a more economical place to live.

Gas prices are still drifting down - 2 stations are at $3.39, the rest will probably matched in s day or two.

Price of diesel here on the Front Range have risen 30 cents in less than two weeks. Can't remember prices dropping that much that quickly. Our fuel does cost less than many countries. I just don't know how those people can pay $8/gallon while commuting 50 to a hundred miles a day. Oh. Wait. They don't, do they? So they "conserve" oil. That must make their economies far sounder. Oh. Wait. They're failing. But at least they can afford to keep their homes a warm 72F. Oh. Wait. They can't. Guess I'll have to go research this matter some more. :S
